PBC can breach the contract and litigation would scatter the belts but it would be very stupid if they didn't put Matchroom as lead promoter in the rematch clause
Matchroom has exclusive contract with DAZN
My understanding was AJ has one fight left on his deal with Days Inn. Never heard anything about first refusal, but if true that’s interesting.
Joshua has a first right of refusal deal with DAZN. If they can't match what another network is paying he can fight off DAZN.
This is all very preliminary and just somethings I heard was being floated out there. FOX putting together a enticing package for Ruiz & Joshua to stage a PPV fight on FOX. The rematch is to big to leave all that money on the table. DAZN is going to have to break the bank for AJ & Ruiz to keep this fight.
Joshua-Ruiz was watched by less than 300k people in the US (with the talk that the fight was seen by fewer folks than watched Alvarez-Fielding, it wouldn't shock me if the number was under 150k for the US), and folks still aren't seeing Ruiz for being more than a fluke, tbh. The fight doesn't merit PPV in the US.
Ruiz-Joshua 2 will happen at Wembley, get pushed to the **** for Sky Box Office, ... and then things could get interesting.
If it's a late fall fight, depending on the weekend, you're up against college football heavy. Still, you usually end up with a couple dud weeks each season.
What's to say that Showtime/CBS doesn't pay a premium to simulcast the fight for Showtime International?
Heck, FOX may be comfortable with airing the Sky Sports feed (though I doubt it).
