IF Floyd were to fight Conor in the cage who would he need to work with to prepare?

Floyd is way too old to learn all these different aspects of MMA fighting, you can't be programmed to do something for 30+ years and then start learning new stuff at 41 years old.

He should move around the cage and potshot for 5 rounds but if Conor got him on the ground he should just tap or with all the power he got, he can change the rules and make it a no submission match. Casual MMA fans like me hate that submission/wrestling in tights BS anways, so this would make for a better fight.

I think with the cage having obtuse angled corners it's a lot easier to not get trapped in a corner so Floyd should try to move and use some good ol boxing shoe shine here and there to steal 3 out of the 5 rounds and survive the other 2. And even then his chances of going the distance are slim to none let alone winning.

I know this is some fantasyland sh^t, but I thought the first fight was fantasyland sh^t that wasn't going to happen too so who f#cking knows anymore.

And honestly I'm not aware of any sprawl specialists (a key for Floyd if this fight got made even if Conor isn't much of a ground guy himself) & I'm not sure one could even get close to the needed muscle memory going with avoiding the non-fist strikes that will be coming his way. Conor has a very solid & fluid kick game that would surely be used early & often in this alleged fantasyland fight.

All that said I think its like 3% to happen, but again as mentioned I probably thought there was a similar chance the first fight would take place so idk that anyone should have THAT much confidence this 2nd fight doesn't happen & personally I think even if it were to happen it'd have hybrid rules that would hinder what Conor could do cuz boxers are underarmed for a cage fight.
      Dan Hendo Henderson lol

Naw Id say TBE would need to get Sugar Rashad and the blackzillions down to vegas.

Yea I basically agree with you.

I did hear on the UFC Unfiltered podcast that they believe there would be hybrid rules for this fight. And one of them being that once the fight goes to the floor it'll be stood up in 15 seconds.

And I've been feeling the whole time a hybrid fight is what this would be more than a MMA fight so that goes along with my thinking.

So this 15 second rule definitely makes it more of a compelling fight, but I still feel like elbows, knees & feet coming at Floyd is some sh^t he'll not easily handle so if those are in the rules he's f#cked cuz he'll get feinted right into a foot or something f#cked up like that cuz movement for boxing isn't good movement for combat sports with kicking.

Sprawling I think one could learn fairly well in that sorta time table if you got a good teacher & you get tested + experience.

The kicking stuff I'd be concerned about cuz most of the things Floyd does in boxing is bad in MMA & idk if you could reasonably be expected to unlearn that 35yrs or w/e of muscle memory that Floyd's got thats wired to boxing.

I have switched from boxing to wrestling and it depends on the person as far as how much time it would take them to adjust to the takedown part. Now, I am talking switching from traditional boxing to traditional wrestling. The wrestling in MMA, I mean the set-ups are different. So Floyd will have to learn wrestling for MMA.

In wrestling there are three stances: high, medium and low. In Greco Roman you use mainly the high stance. In freestyle the medium and the low stance.

Floyd will have the same stance obviously since everybody starts off with the high stance in MMA. He will just have to work on people shooting on him when he throws punches and bringing his lead foot back. Floyd is agile enough to get away from stuff but wrestling is about both agility and strength, and I am not sure if Floyd is strong enough at this stage to be able to shut down a takedown even if he has developed good skills - 4 lines of defense against a take down- block with your head, if the opponent goes below your head, use your hands, if he goes under your hands use your forearms, if he goes under your forearms you sprawl. This is not hard to learn, this is pretty straight forward, however, even if you do it perfectly if you don't have the strength, they will still take you down.
