I guess if i was designing this as a real thing for science I'd probably have them fighting without rules in some place without weapons or hard structures to prevent a death as best as I could. So I doubt I'd have guys fighting on concrete. I mean the goal isn't to prove that no rules fighting can be dangerous. It would be to prove MMA is a superior fighting style to boxing. So probably it'd be done on mats or grass. But I grew up in a wrestling strong area & I've seen my share of wrestlers in fights & in a true fight I've seen guys who seemed much more comfortable skinning their knees taking down a guy who had no idea how to defend a takedown or knew the fight was basically over once the wrestler got him down. So for most fights a skinned knee is worth the fight being over.
So basically TLDR I don't think a skinned knee or taking out wrestling completely is gonna change the overall result that boxers are catching more L's to mixed martial artists than vice versa.
One thing I would concede is I think at the HW level (200+ for boxing, 265 & under for MMA) boxers would probably come out ahead or it'd be much closer cuz HW mixed martial artists seem to relay on boxing much more than the average smaller mixed martial artist & they don't seem to have as much game on the ground or with kicking or BJJ or w/e. There are some specialists at HW, but they are fewer & further between. Or just like in HW boxing where power can bridge the gap in skill more (hence the success of Wilder & Joshua who I don't think many would think are truly the most talented pure boxers at HW) I think power could decide more HW MMAs vs HW boxers then skill.
