What Charlo should do is pull what Brook did with Eubank Jr., but do it publicly. Go on video playing up the villain/badass persona even more, and say "Yo GGG, I hear you been having trouble getting opponents. I hear Danny Jacobs has been reluctant to sign on the dotted line. Well how about you face a real champion. I'm also with Al Haymon just like Jacobs, so this is my offer. If Jacobs won't accept your offer for March 18, I am willing to take that offer instead, with the exact same terms, and fight you March 18 at 160 for your three belts."
Jermall coming off this big knockout... THIS is how fighters were able to grow out of just being belt holders, and become real superstars, in the old days. This is how it was done rather than the 100% risk adverse bull**** so many do today.
Jermall can really ride this momentum into stardom. He is naturally bigger than GGG so there's no reason this can't happen. And it would only serve Jermall's brand, so to speak, even more if he could upstage Jacobs, and make it look like everyone is ducking GGG, but Jermall is willing to jump in front of all those guys and take on the challenge. It would be a bad-ass power play we haven't seen in boxing since, well, Brook, but that was kind of reactive. Eubank Jr. had already messed it up, then Hearn offered it to Brook. If Charlo could actually go call GGG out ahead of time, and not a generic bs callout like Lara did but a real one where he says he will take the Jacobs offer for the Jacobs date right away, that would be a power play in boxing by someone truly aiming for stardom that we haven't seen in awhile.
And to me GGG-Jermall Charlo is interchangeable with GGG-Jacobs in terms of quality. I am happy with either March 18. Do it Jermall!
What do yall think? Should Jermall do it? The only thing that worries me that this can't happen is that GGG fights have VADA drug testing, and Jermall-JRoc had no VADA or even USADA drug testing, even though PBC had promised all their boxers would do year-round testing. I won't accuse anyone but certain physiques of certain fighters, perhaps more than one, made me raise my eyebrows. But I will admit I'm no specialist in spotting juicing or anything. This just a boxing fan's opinion. That's the one big issue I could see, Charlo going from no VADA testing to VADA testing. But I hope Charlo is clean, there is no evidence he's not, and that he fights GGG March 18!
