He was the lineal champion but got stripped for doping. Muhammad Ali lost his belts due to character. Tyson Fury lost his belts due to a lack there of.

But they're claiming he's still lineal, the ratings say differently.

It's because they are a bunch of morons. They are doing that in order to help sell and promote him to the casual fan. While he defeated Klitschko, however it was not a clean win over Klitschko because he refused to be randomly tested by VADA for the fight. Then subsequently, it was revealed that he popped dirty for doping and substance abuse just prior to the fight.

He became lineal by beating Wlad and lost the lineal title by not fighting at all for years. It doen't last forever if you don't defend it.

                - -Fat Dan rated him lineal.

Espn ratings done by a panel. Many times the lineal champ ain't the best, ie Fat Andy who beat the MAN and is more lineal than Tyson at this point.

                  lineal is meaningless

tired of all this ESPN hype

Manny Pacquiao is the lineal welterweight champion. that means nothing now.

since belts and titles are meaningless, they are only as good as the guy who is holding them.

what gives some title value? if the guy holding it fought and beat the best opponents.

                  Thats it.

Did they say he’s the espn champ? If he’s technically the lineal champ, he’s the lineal champ...that doesn’t mean other organizations and media have to rate him #1 by default.
