Is this show any good? I liked the UK original, which was good for two seasons (three or four at a push) then wen t to ****.

It starred people who were unknowns at the time, but went on to bigger things (most notably James McAvoy) so when I used to watch them, I'd think "that's Frank Gallagher."

When I watched the US version, I'd think "that's William H Macy."

Plus, the girls in the UK one were hot in a $2 hooker kind of way... the ones in the US one are actress pretty.

I gave up halfway through the first episode. Not because it was BAD, particularly, but because I'd already "seen" it, as a UK series. And... it's just a very different show. The UK original was grimy, that was more filmic.

But just look...

It's more believable. I often wonder if the UK TV tendency to cast for "reality" rather than "glamour" (glamor, Fat Yank) has led to the stereotype of UK women being ugly?
