Comments Thread For: Sanchez: GGG Won't Be Unified Champ; Saunders Won't Fight Him

Fortunately for Golovkin, he doesn't need the money. He's been making a million plus for many fights now, and got what was it--15 or so for the Canelo fight after the backend? Doesn't even include endorsements with Jumpman, investments, so forth and so on. The guy has "the golden parachute of such magnitude that his feet will never touch the ground" (Meet Joe Black).
From past interviews, it looks like his team feels Golden Boy tried to age him out and that he still ended up clearly (in theirs and many eyes) winning the first one. Then they wanted to wait 8 more months to do the 2nd fight on Cinco de Mayo, and now there's a 6 month suspension putting it at 15-16 months (since he says he won't fight until Sept at the earliest after suspension) from the first fight at the very earliest. Golovkin could realistically be a year and a half to 2 years older in his late 30's by the time the fight gets made. I think they're happy with the way the first fight is viewed publicly and the dirty test sort of put it all in the rearview for them.
I'm not a fan of either (or am of both; however you'd like to perceive it). Seems you're the same. And unlike so many who could only watch that first fight subjectively instead of objectively, it was easy for me to form my own conclusion that Gennady won comfortably. I'm also amazed that Golden Boy wields the power it does with the judges (although I think they'll be on a sharp decline with all of this "KITCHEN UTENSIL" mess Oscar has been outed with now. Fighters may not want to be linked to that) having CJ Ross throw that bone cone at Mayweather during his Canelo fight, and now Byrd with hers at GGG in his Canelo fight. One common denominator in both. This fight is so far removed now, I'd honestly skip it, ask sanctioning bodies for a hold on the mandatory so he can unify, and move forward. Legacy is in tact. (And apologies for making your summer shorter with the windy reply).

Personally, at this stage, I'd be tempted to go for the best, big $$ fights!Last edited by Travycat; 05-09-2018, 05:25 PM.

I watched the first fight objectively and was actually not surprised at the verdict; just the one judges scoring. I thought golovkin won but only just. What I also saw was that Saunders might be a bad matchup for golovkin.
Thanks for the response, there's plenty summer left!

And Sanchez JUST mentioned Saunders after the fight. That's why we're talking about that $7m he asked for Jacobs. Cmon man.
It's like you want all three (golovkin, sanchez, and loeffler) to mention Saunders name 5 times, Jacobs name 5 times, Charlo's name 5 times, and Murata's name 3 times. Get real man. They don't go around negotiating with boxers, and mentioning boxers based off of what YOU say in a boxing forum. You need to step off that high horse and stop thinking we as fans are part of the negotiating team/process.
Now, I will say, if they based their negotiation tactics on MY if and then statement on this forum, and chose not to even talk to Saunders based on that, then that's corny as hell. And that shows they have zero interest.
but what he asked for Jacobs was.....
1) not part of an official negotiation, it was a youtube rant lol..... one that may not even have been serious
2) nothing whatsoever to do with Golovkin
3) completely irrelevant in context of a potential fight with Golovkin
all I am saying is..... when you seem to fixate on things that are totally irrelevant, that will come across as excuse-making
and it would not be the first time
just saying
FACT: you have no idea what Saunders, or anyone else for that matter, would accept..... or intends to do with his career.....
this was your first post on the subject, and it did sound like excuse-making.....
Originally posted by Street15 View Post1. They only agreed on financial terms, based on what Warren says. Warren was the one that drafted the contract. It was an offer to Gennady. Not Loeffler offering Saunders the fight. Huge difference
2. If they agreed on financial terms in March of 2017, then he turns around and asks Jacobs for $7m to fight him, and even Sanchez is surprised at that number, that lets you know that anything near that just can't happen. If the money isn't there to generate Saunders a $7m purse today, there certainly was no way it was there to guarantee him a $7m one year ago.
That fight just can't generate enough for a $25m purse guarantee to be split between the two. That type of coin just doesn't exist.

..... sorry if I jumped to conclusions, but..... the battle-lines (lol) have been drawn, and you fixed yourself firmly on the other side
Not the case over here. I'm all for fairness. No excuses.
I'm only speaking on if and then scenarios based on what he said. Maybe he was joking. Maybe he wasn't. But Sanchez sounded serious. So that's what I was working off of. We won't know until they actually talk.
I'm okay with you disliking Gennady. Just be reasonable in your dislike. Because it starts to look like you dislike Gennady MORE than you actually like boxing. The same goes for alot of other fans that seem to like a boxer more than they like boxing itself.
Not saying that's the case. Just saying what it seems like.

you obviously need to read that link again.....
the 36-year-old Golovkin considers fights against Royota Murata, Daniel Jacobs, Jermall Charlo, and Sergiy Derevyanchenko..... to be legitimate options for his return to the ring
oh, right..... Gennady must have simply " forgotten " to mention his dream..... yea, that must be it
also.....
did it not appear strange to you that while the rest of their world is scratching their head trying to figure out what the fk Team Bullshht were thinking by WASTING A FIGHT-DATE with Vanes..... therefore creating an impossible log-jam in September with his payday Canelo, his mando Derevy, his WBO "dream Saunders", and his other mando Charlo, all waiting in line.....
did it not appear strange to you that with those guys all lining up, not only did Golovkin completely forget about his dream lol, he started mentioning an opponent who is WORSE than all of those guys, and who has never even been mentioned before???
you could at least admit that Murata is just another nothing fight, that nobody asked for, and nobody cares about..... which does make it strange that Team Bull**** seem to be focusing on him
well, not strange to me lol

Haha for sure.
And I think another elephant in the room is if he remains with Golden Boy with Oscar at the helm from "Kitchen Utensils in Ass-gate". Oscar went into rehab a few days before his Mayweather fight, and now this stuff is pretty fresh. Wonder if he'll jump ship or they'll remove Oscar? Oh--and the article they just put up on here a bit ago saying it doesn't look like Canelo will do year round testing and will do drug testing like he has for every other fight (which is 8 weeks out, and according to Eddie Hearn what VADA says is when a drug cheat will stop his cycle, and the exact time Canelo was caught). Says he won't agree to anything until contracts are signed. Aye aye aye!

1. GGG did not pack the Stub Hub. There were like 2000 empty seats. Those silly records are relative given that Stub Hub is not a premier boxing venue.
2. Dervy is mando and he asked for the fight. There was no problem fighting mando Wade.
3. Fighting Alvarez is not about the Ring championship. It's about money. GGG AND Loeffler said the goal was all the belts. Saunders has the last one and was ready to fight in June. It's not that ANYONE disagrees with the approach, it's the fact that they are selling folks bs about why.
2. Also, why would he spend all his time preparing to fight a guy like Canelo, go through a whole training camp and then change direction to fight a guy like Derevyechenko on short prep time?
3. What's wrong with making money? It'd be different if Canelo was a so-called bum, like y'all claim GGG likes to fight, but he's the lineal/ring champion and on most people's top 10 P4P list.
GGG is 36, he should be thinking about fighting the best fighters for the biggest bucks at this age.

but when you fight rosado, brook, and vanes then you could have fought lara a few years ago when you need credible opponents and were fighting monroes and wades
when you pursue chavez and froch and claim anyone to 168 but tuck your tail to fight kell brook and dom wade in 2016 after ward contacted you about a fight at 168 then you are ducking
you are asking me how one can duck a 168/175 fighter but it was sanchez who was talking about possibly fighting ward, on camera, when ward was signed to fight kovalev
sanchez was talking about...whether he was asked a question or not he kept it going....when he could have just said "ward isnt on our radar hes up at 175 now"...but he entertained it because he knew he could talk tough and act like he might even want the fight when deep down he knew it would never happend and they already rebuffed ward
i could bust you up all night on this.....but youll never see things for what they are
for years lil g couldnt find credible guys...he was fighting bums and lara would have made a credible opponent....lara had been featured on tv many times and was a known guy...instead he fought dom wades, willie monroes and other c level comp because they were more tailored to make him look good instead of spoil
funny he had no problems fighting vanes, rosado and brook though huh? he dindt duck those jr mws and welters did he?
And he only fought Brook because Canelo fought Khan. You know that.
None of you GGG haters have named ONE middleweight GGG ducked.
He got ducked by Sergio Martinez, Miguel Cotto, Danny Jacobs, Peter Qullin, and finally Canelo Alvarez.
The only thing y'all can do is yell, "He wouldn't fight guys outside of his division" as if that's his obligation.
His obligation is as the MIDDLEWEIGHT champion. That's it.
If Erislandy Lara & Andre Ward wanted to fight GGG bad enough, then they would've moved up/dropped down in weight to the middleweight division and challenged him for his belt. Lara chose to stay at 154 and Ward moved up to 175, apparently they didn't want to fight him that bad.
When you name ONE Middleweight he's ducked. I'll respect it.Last edited by The D3vil; 05-09-2018, 08:22 PM.
