They are both very unique fighters who accomplished unseen things in boxing history.
This. They are both great enough that you can put one over the other.

He has a good chance to win. Mayweather has many devoted followers that would never put Pacquiao in front of hin just for beating Thurman. Other non Mayweather fans may already rank Pacquiao higher on the all time greatest list. It depends on who is doing the ranking.

Great replay and couldn't have put it better myself.

Two fights that spring to mind are Pac v Margarito - Pacman, violated a man who probably outweighed him by 20lbs on fight night. Floyd couldn't have done that.

Look at the way handled Canelo and JMM.... Absolute clinics. Pac could't have done that either.

As a boxing fan I just appreciate that we saw to of the best fighters ever to compete in absolutely stacked divisions. just think of some of the fighters from JLW through to WW...

Being unbeaten is nothing if people think you tried getting things in your favour more often that not and do people really class Floyd as unbeaten?
Floyd didn't take the risks that PAC did so how many losses would Floyd really have if he did? How many losses would Floyd have if he wonntitles in 8 divisions or fought outside his country? How many losses would sven ottke have also?
PAC beat all common opponents more dominantly also, which makes it harder to support and defend Floyd. It makes it harder to disguise Floyd's true inferiority. I mean if they didn't fight common opponents you could perhaps kid yourself and go along with the manufactured idea that Floyd was somehow better. But there's no hiding place for Floyd in reality
There really isn't a logical ase for Floyd being greater. Might as well say jc is greater than bh..

There really isn't a case for Floyd being greater
If manny beats Thurman, it dispels the narrative of his very worst fans that he was shot when he fought Floyd.

Floyd will always be superior to manny in any honest list of great fighters made by a neutral, unbiased source. What is said by media members or posters with an agenda or that hate Floyd will never change that.

Come on we all know PAC had bad shoulder and Floyd didn't want to have a legit win. I haven't got official stats of who was favourite in prime. But people understand Floyd had physical advantages over pac and was bigger man and on paper had no losses. That don't make Floyd greater winning h2h.
But after Pac stopped cotto it was split who people thought would win. Person in street and boxing fans probably favoured Pac even if bookies were safe and sides with floyd.
I suppose jc is greater than bh just because jc is unbeaten and on paper had win over bh ?
But the fairest way to see it is Pac s resume is lightyears beyond jc. Whereas as for Floyd resume and bh resume you'd have to think about it. You might opt for Floyd over bh but nonetheless you'd have thought about it.

Floyd has a better record against common opponents. He beat him head to head, their common opponents said Floyd is better. Floyd didn't get knocked out by bums, Floyd has never been on his @$$, Is the most accurate ever, least hit ever. Manny is an all time great and is more beloved but he will never be better.

The problem is that people will say Thurman looked poor in his last fight.

Anyway, Floyd is the better fighter of the two, but who achieved more greatness is up for debate.

Unless Pacquiao does something amazing he's not going to be ahead of Mayweather in the majority of peoples opinions. Sorry.
