  • anyone else feel this way?

I grew up kind of socially akward in elementary and highschool.
I was very quiet and shy most of the time.
I found that during gym I was not very shy and I was very good.
When I finally got a part time job I was able to afford to play sports.
I joined the gym and it's been 5 months.
I feel like I'm at home when I'm boxing I am not shy and I'm very popular
at the gym. I make friends so easily and it is so much fun.
I feel so relaxed and comfortable and not afraid to talk to people.
But when I go to school I am shy again and don't talk much and don't
    have very many friends.

    anyone else get that feeling?

Your not the only one, I had the same story. I now like to have conversions though, it was almost impossible for me to talk b4. Dont worry, it's just temporary, it will go away one day...

I'm not shy at school, but I just don't feel the need to talk to people if I have nothing to say. You might simply be introverted.

Also, in terms of being popular in the gym, it might simply be because you know you get the respect you want from the people in your gym. At school, you're basically nobody to those outside of your circle of friends. At the gym, it's almost like everyone is a family, and I would think that most respect you for fighting through the training and mental anguish that the sport has to offer.

Do you WANT to be the same at school and outside the gym, or are you simply wondering who else is similar to you?

The guys at my gym are like my family, see my trainer more often than any single other person. Kostya, you fighting on the 18th? Goodluck!

For me it was the opposite, in highschool i would always get into fights and i hung out with the wrong crowd. Smoked weed, drank 40's and i was always ****ing around in class.

Until i picked up boxing. It tought i was a badass and boxing made me realise that there was people much more badass than me. It helped me a lot, to this day i don't drink, don't smoke and i train religiously.

A part of that was just growing up of course but it's obvious to me that boxing had a huge part in it.
