  • Magee returns in December!

Belfast boxer Eamon Magee will make his comeback to the ring in his native city on 10 December.
Magee's career was thought to be over after a vicious gang attack last March left him with horrendous leg injuries.
However, the Belfastman is now firmly on the road to recovery and plans to defend his WBU welterweight title in the New Year.
An opponent for the December bout has yet to be named but the fight is likely to take place at the King's Hall.
The WBU has told Magee that he is still its welterweight title holder.
"They have given me until the end of March to defend the title," said Magee.
"I've got a mortgage to pay like everybody else and boxing is the only means I have of earning a living."
The 32-year-old Magee sustained a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula after being dragged from a car.
He said at the time that his career was definitely over after his injuries were diagnosed by two specialists.
But following a miraculous recovery, Magee is back in training again.
Magee returned to the gym in early August although he had to curtail sparring for a number of weeks because he had been prescribed the drug Warfarin to aid his recovery.
Before the gang attack, Magee was being lined up to fight Sharmba Mitchell.
He is still holding out hope of a fight with Mitchell, the IBF light welterweight interim champion, although a re-match with Ricky Hatton is also high on Magee's agenda.
Hatton outpointed Magee over 12 rounds in June 2002.

I'm really surprised at this but it's great news, i always liked Magee as a fighter and hoped he would come back at some stage but i thought it would be a while yet, he wasn't a mover anyway so it might not affect him that much, good luck to him.

I've only seen two Magee fights, one on a Hatton undercard and the other vs.Hatton.

Didn't he get injured over a fight over something really stupid, like a snowman? I remember it was a strange story when it came out.

Oh well, he knocked Hatton down anyway, no one else I believe can claim that yet.

Yeah it was a stupid argument like that between Magee's kids and another family which just escalated way out of hand.
