Hatton was not among the top ten P4P when he fought Pac. Morales wasn't either. Cotto might have been.

Don't forget that the Ring only does those lists once a year. They do not tell the story what happens throughout the year. Morales went off nearly everyone's list after losing the fight before Pac at the end of 2004. He came back on after beating Pac the next year. Most did not have him as a P4P guy when they fought.

Same with Hatton. He'd been replaced by younger guys after beating Malignaggi.

Either way, there are guys who have fought more easily.

Hatton was number 8 on the P4P list.

That is hilarious. I think only Ring magazine had him P4P at the time.

there's countless number of people who may have been on a pfp list that was completely undeserved. hatton v pac was without a shadow of a doubt one of them. please look at his fights pre-pac.

Yes everyone was saying Mayweather wouldn't take the fight and that he was scared even Freddy Roach.

Mayweather is the ultimate pro at timing when picking opponents. He always takes them at the top of there game (or at least when they are perceived that way.

ODLH -on the downhill slope of his career but just off a world title win agaisnt Mayorga
                      Ricky Hatton -Undefeated
JMM - my only criticism really, outweighing him and all but JMM just came off a war agaisnt Diaz, which he won.
Shane Mosley - #3 P4P and just killed Margarito
Victor Ortiz -fought a brutal war agaisnt Berto and won, considered dangerous at the time
Miguel Cotto - Off one of his greatest victories agaisnt Margarito, highly ranked

It's hard to argue the quality of Mayweathers opponents at the time.
