    Alex Ariza's revelations of his secret concoction of supplements, which he mixes with a light yellow powder to enhance Manny Pacquiao's stamina, has sparked media firestorm in sports particularly in boxing as the performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) controversy continues to hound the Filipino boxer.

    Floyd Mayweather Sr. and some members of Mayweather's camp have accused Pacquaio of using PEDs or steroids to gain advantage in power and stamina over his opponents.

    Pacquiao denied the charges saying he has passed all required tests by the Nevada Sports Athletic Commission.

    For having accused him of using illegal drugs without presenting any evidence, Pacquiao sued Mayweather and some members of his team for defamation. The lawsuit is being heard in a district court in California.

    Ariza, who is the strength and conditioning coach of Pacquiao said he has to give him added supplements as he faces Antonio Margarito, who is much bigger and taller than him.

    Nobody knows what it is, but apparently it makes Pacquiao perform superhuman efforts, coupled of course with a training regimen that puts even the finest athletes to shame, Nick Giongco of Bulletin today said.

    According to Ariza, there is nothing special about the supplements, which are apparently available and can legally be bought from open sources.

    “Manny just eats the basic, beef, chicken, fish, rice, and a 16 oz serving of protein shake (that is immediately given to Pacquiao after every workout),” said Ariza, who has been in Pacquiao’s training camp since 2008.

    Ariza's revelations could lead boxing regulating agencies to require Ariza to submit samples of the supplements for an analysis to find out if the mixture uses illegal substances.

    The agencies may even issue a summon to Ariza for him to appear before the boxing regulating bodies, including the Nevada State Athletic Commission or its counterpart in Texas where Pacquiao and Margarito are schedule to clash for the vacant WBC junior middleweight championship crown.

    Ariza would not talk openly about his concoctions if he knew that these supplements are illegal or banned.

    Over-the-counter supplements are available to the general public in the U.S. and anyone can buy them without prescription. These supplements may be in the form of vitamins or natural health beverages or even herbal health drinks.

    How to put them together for maximum effect is Ariza's own little secret.

    And being an expert in physical conditioning, Ariza should know exactly what to do with these legal supplements for maximum effect on Pacquiao's power and stamina

            Renowned Filipino boxing scribe Nick Giongco of the Manila Bulletin reported that Pacquiao's strength and conditioning coach revealed that he mixes a small amount of a yellow, powdered substance with water for the Filipino world champion to ingest before each of his workout sessions.

            In an article entitled "Ariza Bares Secret to Pacman's Power", Giongco wrote;

            "Nobody knows what it is but it apparently makes Pacquiao perform superhuman efforts coupled of course with a training regimen that puts even the finest athletes to shame."

            He continued by saying that Ariza said there's nothing special about the substance that he said is "...just a concoction of supplements".

            Giongco didn't say, or even insinuate that there is any need to suspect that the substance is anything but a legal supplement.

            However, it's likely that Pacquiao critics will run with this information while ignoring the absurdity in assuming that Ariza would give his star pupil any type of illegal substance in front of a reporter, and then enter into a discussion about it with him.
