  • Lawrence Okolie: an example of the inept corruption in British boxing.

So, on Saturday night all Okolie had to do was make it to the final bell and the belt was his. He is one of Anthony Joshua's bumboys. However, the 3 points deducted from Okolie for cheating upset the apple cart and made the fixed scorecards read very wrong. Let's take a closer look:

    John Foster: 116-110
Gave Matty Askin 2 rounds. So surely if Okolie won 10-2 on his card, it should read 115-110? Like... 118(-3)-110?

    Ian John Lewis: 114-112
Gave Askin 4 rounds. So surely if Okolie won 8-4 on his card, it should read 113-112? Like... 116(-3)-112?

    Steve Gray: 114-113
Gave Askin 5 rounds. So surely if Okolie won 7-5 on his card, it should read 112-113 in favour of Askin? Like... 115(-3)-113?

I did drink a few Guinness last night, so I may be missing something? Can someone explain how these scores make sense? Considering Okolie had 3 points deducted? Thanks.

If you disregard the points deductions, the cards would read 119-110, 117-112 and 117-113. These make no sense?!

There were no 10-8 rounds. It's easy to do the math...

It's obviously not that easy though is it

If you include rounds that were scored even (a draw) it's possible. There were a few rounds in the fight which were very even because they consisted of so much clinching and very little effective offense.

It was a very ****ty fight but the right man won...i had it 114-111...the cards were on point. There was no controversy last night in any of the fights...but you guys seem to hate that and just make up some stuff! You cant stand it huh ?
