I just feel a lot of people at this point would say that Spence beat the injury prone version of Thurman if the fight happens & Spence wins. At this point I feel Spence vs. Crawford is the fight to be made while Spence vs. Thurman isn’t really that big of a deal anymore due to Thurman hardly fighting in the past 3 years & counting.

Would Spence even get credit for beating Thurman at this point?

Originally posted by BIG GUNZ View PostYeah, but it depends on the quality of his opposition. Thurman supposedly wants 2 tune up fights before he fights a good fighter. It’s like with Khan’s last fight. He won easily, but look who he beat. Now he’s fighting another C level fighter afterwards.

Boxing fans are the most fickle folks in the world so does it even matter if they give him credit for the one or not? But some of it will surely depend on how he looks in his return. Not like he's taking a Ward or Garica or Mayweather type of break, he will be back within 17-18 months of the DSG fight. Give him one tune up and then hopefully he fights a top guy. Ideally he gets a top 10 guy before facing Spence late 19, if possible.
But Spence/Crawford is THE fight because they are the two best fighters of the weight class. These two are in the top 10 P4P list and the winner will be top 2-3. Well, Crawford is already that, if not number 1 so his greatness just gets validated even more.
Thurman gets a lot of hate but he has the best WW resume' right now. Was the unified champ before getting stripped. His moniker is outdated since he's not getting any stoppages, but he's a very good fighter nonetheless.
