I bleed liquid gold and slur speech in a cryptic code
My feet slipping on this twisted road
Only the mystic knows the lone figure in the distance
No bigger than the sum of his inscriptions
Or the extent of his conviction

Jehst is one of the most slept on greatest lyracissts not only in UK hip hop but in general...

U.K. hip hop (not Grime) is big into the early 90s Nas type boom bap era.

Jehst, Klashnekoff, Skinnyman, Loyle Carner (who I just posted above, you should check him out) all give me those vibes.

Jehst is probably the GOAT from here I think in terms of hip hop.

“It's the million militant picture paintin, quit debatin'
I hit terrain my trainers grip the pavement
The city's depraved decayed, quick to cave in
I kick the greatest game, pick up the pace
Shake the cage, rattle bars, we bare battle scars
              Fresh blood out the abbatoir
Avant Garde rappers are ready for champagne and caviar”

              Unreal

im going through my UK hip hop playlist and getting nostalgic af, i havent heard some of this stuff in years...

this is possibily one of the greatest verses i have EVER heard, i still remember the exact moment i heard it (one of jehsts lesser known songs released on an EP) so it escaped me for a few years.

was working on a farm in NZ and had to re-wind this over a dozen times:

'Far too poetic soul dig a grave for my prophetic soul
The thought of freedom making slaves energetic, I hold.
At my pore gold pure, I wont let it go tho.
My epidemic grow so the credit, I'm flawed.
Caught between a schizophrenic & a chemical imbalance that separates states of mind and
character traits like space & time, hand,
rotates and chase the blind man,
to meet the reaper yet lead the all seeing to eternity
And if seeing is believing then with certainty,
I see the divine being as me.
                Defining life providing creativity.
And when I cry, I cry Shake-spears imagery.
For your fake tears i hold no sympathy.
                Empathy 21st century legendary pedigree.
Bred to continue the LEGACY of guidance & tuition.
                I am science fiction,
super star part of astrological prediction,
                living cliche.
Story lines glorified scavenger, the same old plot lot,
                the same stock character.
My catechism is the missing link between man & rhythm, rhyme & reason, paper bullet ammunition.
May the disciplined read between my mannerism's.
Its duck season, the hunted understand my vision...
