For a long, long time, people with at least half a brain have been able to see that Wilder's record was built on tailor-made opponents, that exaggerated his strengths, and hid his weaknesses.
For a long, long time, people have been saying that Wilder is going to struggle against a fighter who has at least half decent movement - his best wins (Ortiz and Stiverne) are stationary, concrete-footed guys who are perfect for someone who throws big, wild right hands. As soon as Wilder came up against a guy who wasn't going to stand there to be hit, he would struggle. And that's exactly what happened.
His immense power (legitimately the biggest puncher in the division, no doubt) was on display, but the fact of the matter is, he was outboxed six ways from Sunday. When he couldn't land the big shots - which is the only way he knows how to win a fight - he looked lost, and slow.
It's an absolute disgrace that the fight was scored a draw. Wilder may have done a Houdini to avoid a loss (thanks to quite obviously corrupt judging - is anyone surprised?), but we have pretty clear cut evidence of his limitations now.
It's almost impossible to defend the credibility of US boxing now - another judge on the payroll has ruined what should have been a clear cut result.
