Last Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Keith Thurman unified the WBC, WBA welterweight titles with a twelve round split decision over Danny Garcia. Thurman (28-0, 22 KOs) started fast, by taking the fight to Garcia in the first six rounds. In the second half of the contest, the pace slowed down as Thurman used his legs and reach to outbox Garcia down the stretch.

There's really no need, it was a very clear win...

People would have more faith in a rematch here than a four round blowout

It was relatively close... yet..relatively not close. Rather see them face other guys right now.

Rematches are necessary when the fight outcome is debatable for either fighter, or when the action was so fan friendly and exciting that another fight will bring guaranteed $$$.

I saw neither. Pretty much everyone scored it for Thurman. And the action (for the casual fan) was just average. 1st round was awesome...2nd to 5th rounds were pretty good... rest of the fight was somewhat of a letdown (for casuals) especially the last 2 rounds when Thurman went on his bike.

Rematch isn't necessary right now IMO. But I'm open to it down the road.

Thurman won clearly, there's no point he'll win again, he should either fight Bradley on PBC or Pacquaio on PPV to legitimize his stand at #1 at Welterweight and top 5 P4P

Thurman should go onto fight the winner of Spence-Brook.

                He'll kick Garcia's ass again

He should get a rematch, but stay fresh in the meanwhile and not obsess over it and make it the be all and end all of his career. Maybe he'll let his hands go in the rematch or maybe it's just a case of Thurman's style beating his 9/10. I didn't like his dad talking about retiring..weak mentality, reminded me of the Prince, one loss and out.

in this episode of pointless rematches..

there is no need for this. it was clear who the winner was. Thurman outbrawled and outboxed Danny.

Danny never gave Herrera a rematch. and that was more debatable than this.

keep it moving forward Keith. he should be gunning for Pacquiao who's the top dog at 147. he can't be the best there without going through the Pacman.

if not Pac then Spence/Brook winner.

                    last option Lamont Peterson.

no more Garcia. it wasn't close.
