Richmond VA had one of the highest per capita murder ratings in the country in the 90s. This is why we were selected as the pilot city for the federal project exile (5 years for illegal handgun) program

I don't leave the country much. But one time I waltzed by Miguel Cotto's backyard and lived to talk about it.

Not sure if it's a dangerous country as a whole, although it has a lot of it's fair share of drug crime but i went to Venezuela for a few days when i was visiting Colombia and me, a girl i was with at the time and a friend got into a taxi. I was sat in the back of the taxi and after about 15 minutes it become apparent that we were going nowhere near our destination and heading out of the city. I quickly sussed out they were probably taking us somewhere to be robbed which isn't uncommon in some countries if you're a tourist. I didn't fancy causing a crash so i waited until the driver had to slow down and then got in-between the two front seats and started hitting him then he stopped and we got out. Not a great story but i do wonder where we would have been taken if i hadn't done that.
I also went to a drug farm in Morocco with a friend who is a journalist and he was doing an article about it. It was in the middle of nowhere. There was a family living there who farm the the cannabis and we were talking with some family members. They were holding machete's and telling us they could quite easily kill us there and we would never be found. I think they were just testing our nerve and they were pretty cool after that.

statistically it is chicago. i'm there all the time for work.
recently i was in las vegas and bought some of that bomb ass recreational marijuana. i got an uber to the closest park to the dispensary to sit and have a quick smoke. huge mistake. uber driver even told me it was a bad area, but i didn't give it much thought. i should have asked the guy to take me to a park and bit the extra 5-10 it would have cost me to get the hell out of that bad neighborhood.
i was wheeling around a carry-on [was a few hours from flying out,] and in a nice blazer and slacks, sitting on a park bench in what i found out was one of the worst neighborhoods in las vegas. needless to say i stuck out and eventually figured i was in a bad spot. kept moving and eventually into another uber, but i felt a lot of eyes on me until i had gotten out of there. i'm not a small or meek looking man, but it's not going to matter when some homeless dude with a knife rolls up and asks for my briefcase and carry on, wallet, phone, etc.
uber driver who picked me up probably thought i was buying meth . i told him the story and we had a laugh about it. but i will say i was genuinely nervous until i was in his car. learned my lesson. you know you're in a bad neighborhood when it takes 20 minutes to get an uber in las vegas

As long as you stay on the strip or Fremont Street or off it doing daylight hours your 100% peachy doe, but I venture off quite a bit and now with the weed shops all over off the strip I'm doubling down on venturing off the strip/Fremont.
Not this time thus far, but that weird moment felt like it could be one cuz here I am wearing shiney shoes that probably cost more than these two mfers entire life possessions.
I stay prepared for sh^t to pop off doe. Im not starting sh^t with anyone, but if anyone starts sh^t with me I prefer to be on top of it before I see a punch coming out of the corner of my eye that I may not make it out of the way of.

And yea randomly I think being taller/bigger helps you in these situations too. When it's dark that can add some size to you to with the shadows so I think the threats we gotta worry about aren't active enough/brave enough, but when you do find yourself being in a tight situation I'm sure there is much more likely to be a weapon involved cuz we're bigger.
