Default 2nd Exhibition Match

[Link View Has Been Removed. Click Here To Unlock This Content.]

I'm in Red. Exhibition so not trying to knock the other guy out or anything. I had been on a 3 week break from training before the match, felt a bit tired towards the end of round 3, but otherwise felt pretty good.

Waiting for a sanctioned event near so I can get an official bout set up.

Good work. I like the head movement, but you will need to sharpen it up and speed it up a bit. With slow rolls like you do it won't be long before guys are pickin' you off, so might as well work on it now. And I would have called you for ducking with your head down to the canvas. You gotta keep your eyes on the opponent at all times in between the bells. Good learning work though. Next time you work with this guy make his life hell with lots of jabs. If you can work the jab then you know that you can work anything else that you want to. Make him look for the jab then bust a right in there. Try to draw him out of position by using sharp head movements, when he bites then you drop something on him. Learn good feints. With your movement, a good jab and feints will make your work so much easier. Good work ……...Rockin'

I only watched first 2 rounds. You switch stances alot. Im not a fan of that.

Some nice head movement. But you often did a slip or roll and then just stood there right in front of him. Try move off or at least keep throwing. Never a good idea to stand in front of someone without throwing punches.

Hands were down alot.

Overall not bad.

FYI I read these comments and apply them to what I need to work on so I appreciate them. From others as well.

Yeah definitely wasn't as sharp as I could've been. I'm normally orthodox (I am ambidextrous though bat left handed, bowl left handed play basketball with both hands, but throw mostly with my right), but through training with Southpaw's often I sort of naturally started to switch stances. Rather than train me to stay in orthodox my coaches/trainers think it's best that I do whats natural (which lately has been fighting more out of a Southpaw stance and/or switching stances).

I had some shoulder issues with the left which may have pushed me further into using a southpaw stance. Shoulder is healed, but still a bit hesitant in really pumping that jab with the left hand more than a double jab (used to throw 3-6 snappy jabs before the issues popped up).

I don't train on mitts as often with my left and have some kinks that still need to be worked out from that stance (dropping my left when throwing more than a single jab really, not super comfortable throwing the straight left and need to train more on the mitts and in combination from the southpaw stance).

Was off for about 3 weeks got in one light session before the exhibition, but getting back on my normal grind so will be more tuned up and in better shape for the next one.

Thanks man!

Will definitely keep those in mind/keep working. Some of the head down/eyes not on the opponent is the uncomfortably in the Southpaw stance (see my previous comment as to why I've been using it more), gets better/more comfortable as I train more.

Def got out of the habit of feinting, something I need to keep in mind. The rolls def slow down as I go on, he did catch on to it once near the end of second or third round, part of that is coming off of the couch and tiring a bit more quickly than usual.

My left shoulder/bicep are better but haven't gotten back into jumping more than a triple jab out there it. Also seem to have some hesitancy in utilizing the left jab as often as I would in the past, but also haven't been training as often since my bout fell through (due to work and holidays and family stuff) so will get back in there and iron it out for sure!

Appreciate the words/your time.

Foot work was pretty awesome and that quick right hook in the second round was the best punch of the fight so far, if you can include an uppercut in your arsenal than it will be a good choice. See here how George Forman sets an uppercut against joe frazier.

To be fair, you have several opportunities to KO him but you didn’t take them, killer instinct man!
