  • Comments Thread For: Hearn on Wilder-Ortiz: It's Embarrassing, Why Not Fight Joshua?

Promoter Eddie Hearn has continued to verbally lash out at World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, who on Tuesday announced a rematch with Cuba's Luis Ortiz, dealing a fresh blow to hopes of a unification bout with Hearn's star fighter, Anthony Joshua. Wilder said he had signed a deal to face Ortiz once more following a bruising first battle in March 2018. Wilder won his first encounter with the Cuban nicknamed "King Kong" with a tenth round stoppage, but not before the 40-year-old had badly shaken the undefeated champion in the seventh round.

Looks like it will be Pulev, if he stays out of trouble that is. Not a bad fight and still a top ten guy. Shame Wilder is a complete coward and wants to rematch a 40 year old guy that he already beat.

Ortiz, then another bum, then Fury rematch, then maybe White, then maybe AJ. Poor Hearn, who will AJ fight?

Boxingscene has the worst boxing "fans" in the world. Y'all are the type to say "aha" like little kids just cause your fighter isn't fighting the other. So y'all don't want the best to fight the best at all. Y'all would be happy with your fighter going 100-0 with nothing but bums. As long as you get the bragging rights. So brainless.

Hearn needs to stop pretending that he would want this fight to happen without making an arrangement to have some financial control over wilder beyond that fight. At the end of the day, I'd prefer to see wilder vs Joshua but to say fighting Ortiz is an embarrassment when Ortiz is a higher rated heavyweight than anyone Joshua has fought (or in the case of miller, planned to face) in the past 2 yrs. Wilder's best 2 opponents are still better than Joshua's best 2 opponents. So the supposed fear of Joshua that Hearn is trying to portray is a joke.

So Hearn says that a deal between Ortiz and Wilder was already set like 3 weeks ago then acts flabbergasted and disappointed now. Like, didn't you already know this was happening? So was all that extra **** with AJ wanting to sit down etc just theatrics then? The lines been drawn no need for PR moves just get that 50-50 ready for 2020

Hearn...let's get this fight done but u, Wilder must agree to a multi fight deal w DAZN in order to fight AJ. DAZN n Hearn want to have control of Wilders next few fights instead of just doing a one off n having a rematch on Showtime or Fox if Wilder wins. Hearn is pissed cause DAZN pretty much is pressuring him to deliver the fight for then.
