FYI, Ocasio Cortez is actually pushing this idea in the GreenNewDeal.
They got $1600 for the year, not monthly, and that $1600 comes heavily from their oil fund.

Public assistance shouldn't be cut out for the sick, the physically handicapped, mentally challenged and the elderly.

"Welfare" isn't the financial burden some make it out to be. But there are many people abusing the system and it isn't right. You have people working full time cash jobs who don't report it to the government and collect SSI.

It is funny to see people exited for a handout out of someone's else's effort.

Nice to see that some rather have the government give it to them instead of earning it. More government=less freedom.

That is not what I was getting at. Economics 101.

Investments you seek a return. This is giving hand outs with no value generated in return. That is not an investment. And where on earth do you get the idea that everyone is entitled to rewards from other's labor?

Is there any liberal on here that understands what happens when you give out free money on a massive scale?

Yes, this is just a payoff from the oil companies for political support from the residents. They do not want any talk of more regulations/restrictions.

Alaska only has 740,000 residents in the entire state, less than even the small island of Oahu which is no more than 20 miles wide.

Further, Alaska has over double the average state debt per capita. The current governor is talking about how they need budget cuts. Love the common garbage spewed by socialists, "oh we're doing it in Alaska", ok but is it being done successfully? How are we supposed to give out a federal handout to 300 times more people and who will pay for it? We cant just go to the oil companies for the entire country.
