What the hell is a 'clean' landed punch? Punches landed in boxing aren't meant to 'clean' the opponent. They are meant to 'DAMAGE' the opponent. It's supposed to be 'DAMAGING' punches landed.

In this regard, Golovkin landed much more 'damaging' punches than Canelo Alvarez did. More 'types' of damaging punches landed is irrelevant. More total number of damaging punches is what's relevant.

That's a lie GGG landed only 49 more total punches but was out landed in every punch Stat body shots, uppercuts, power shots, etc. So only edge GGG had in punch stats was jabs. He landed more total shots because he threw almost 400 jabs. Missing a career high amount of jabs and landing at a low rate. He was busy but ineffective missing almost 500 punches on the night and rarely landing anything clean or hard. GGG literally had the worst offensive night of his career.

Who cares if Canelo landed more body punches, more arm punches, more sexy punches, more mexican punches? In the end, he still landed less total punches in most rounds. If Golovkin, just with his jab alone is able to land more total punches compared to Canelo Alvarez who was throwing more types of punches, then what does that make of Canelo Alvarez's offensive skills compared to Golovkin's?

Also, throwing less punches and landing less punches isn't something that should be praised or credited more than actually landing more punches. So what if Golovkin had to throw more punches to land more. The fact is, he did land more and that's THE MOST important criteria. Which is who lands the more effective punches in more rounds. Only if that stat is equal, do other criteria come into play such as accuracy (who landed at a higher rate), defense (who made the other miss more punches), ring generalship and etc.

You're going too far speaking on the flaws or something negative about Canelo. That's not allowed on boxingscene. j/k

In between one of the rounds, Canelo was sitting in his corner with his legs stretched out like he was laying in a lawn chair.

So what does it tell you about Canelo as a boxer that his more versatile abilities (more varied and types of punches landed) was inferior to Golovkin's less versatile and one dimensional abilities (only landed jabs) since Golovkin landed more punches with his jab alone than Canelo Alvarez was able to with more types of punches?
It tells you one guy threw a shyt load more punches with nothing on it. While the other guy threw less but threw and landed all the effective, cleaner, and harder shots. People want to give credit to GGG for simply coming forward and throwing a lot not realizing or acknowledging that he was missing and not landing anything significant when he did. It was ineffective aggression nothing more. Tap jabs with nothing on them.

Canelo rolls with punches very well taking the steam off the punch. So canelo was rolling alot of GGG's shots

Imagine going into a fight when you were talking of going to war, but instead turn your entire fanbase against you!!
I found a new love for Mexicans, I knew they were the best fans of this sport, but at the end of the fight the reception they gave to Canelo was great, these guys aren't fanboys.

Canelo whole gameplan was to just survive 12 rounds, he never did anywhere near enough he was being schooled by GGG, schooled and buillied the better technique was all on display by GGG...
All good and well showing slickness, but when you ain't throwing with it what does it matter?

Yes, yes... It was a "life and death" fight tbh!... with GGG having no clues or answers and with a very "crisp" Canelo...

... not interested in a rematch...

Am I the only guy on this forum that thought both fighters fought very well and gave us a world-class fight?

Actually he's right. Canelo had a lot of his punches blocked. The ones that landed had little effect.
