Like Nelly once said. Two is not a winner and three nobody remembers. Poor Punk - this is what he should have done FIRST to understand his level.

big ups to him then!! props to punk for still pushing forward and not giving up on this. maybe he should have spent more time on working with his bjj skills before he stepped into the octagon for the first time. maybe it would have gone a little better for him.

if you're new to mma, the best thing you can do is work heavily on your ground game because this is what's gonna save you from getting pounded in the face!

nope! he's not gonna learn enough boxing to help him once he's in there against a striker that's been doing this for years. his best bet was to work on his ground game, wrestling and bjj.

this is what's gonna help him when he's in there with punchers (which he was and he got pounded). boxing is important, but not so much when it's mma.

half of the fight goes to the ground, and the guy on the top position will hammer down punches, the guy on the bottom will have to defend (punk had no clue on what to do on the ground). look at his fights, he didnt get pounded while standing up. he got pounded while on the ground.

if he was good on his ground game, that would have helped him with his weak stand up. but he was weak on both ends. he spent too much time working on his stand up. in mma, you gotta work on your ground game first imo. look at conor, look what happened as soon as he was matched up against a good wrestler/bjj type fighter. he loss. TWICE!

His standup meant nothing against Mickey Gall. I don't even think Mickey threw a punch that whole fight.

No, I agree. Takedown defense and offense should be your fundamental if you're going into MMA. It also teaches you patience - which is what lost him the first fight.

CM Punk just wrestled on some show, but under a mask and never let anyone know it was him.
