ring belt >>>>>>>> wbo, ibf, wba, wbc, ibo

give me a break. a nobody can easily be gifted a wbo, ibf, wba, wbc and especially ibo. the #1 and #2 decide the ring/lineal belt.

Mikey is a top 10 P4P for sure, I know a lot of people wont give him credit for yesterday's win but Lipinets is a very good fighter despite his lack of experience. Look at how quickly he's been moved through the ranks, his resume after just 14 fights is very impressive, there's a reason for that. It was obvious this would be a competitive fight, if you know your boxing.

That's a very good win for Mikey's resume, Lipinets will be a world champ again imo and go on to have a good career at world level.

Since September 2011 (less than 7 years), there have been 8 more fighters that have become 4-weight champions. The accomplishment has become watered down.

The standard now lies at the 5-weight mark (Hearns, Leonard, De La Hoya (6), Mayweather, and Pacquiao (8)).
The standard is unifying. Belts are now meaningless.

When one division can have as many as 4+ "champions" there is little value on becoming a "champion".

Unifying in more than one division is the most impressive thing one can do now...which is sad because it's literally the equivalent of being champion in more than one weight class when there was "one champ per weight class".

        Boxing is all about monayyyyy

Well Lomachenko still never fought at 135 so that's why he didn't cross my mind, but that would be a great fight that will unfotunately never get made as long as Lomachenko is still with top rank. I can't imagine any scenario where Arum would ever want to do business with Mikey or risk his fighter losing to Mikey.

Great fight, never gonna happen, unfortunately.

If that's your position, that we should ignore the recognized world titles and instead track lineage, then Manny still didn't win titles n those four weight classes. You can't pick and choose when it suits your argument. You can't add alphabelts and lineage to try to inflate the numbers. Doesn't make any sense.

                Yeah.

Too easy win 4 titles in different weights.

Thats the reason why a lot of fighters did it.

A lot like... 8 or 10 in all the history

If these belt collectors want to do something really impressive then start clearing out divisions not fighting paper titlist after paper titlist.

Didn't he win a title by quitting? then Roman Martinez (terrible champion), Zlaticanan (who?) Lipinets (again who? some failed kickboxer with a handful of fights).
                He's never even been in a 50/50.

His resume is no better than the next weightmans only the C level guys they've been beating wasn't handed vacant titles.
Your boy stupid Matthysse never will do what García did.

                    Lineal titles > alphabet titles.

Beating MAB or Hatton for a lineal title is infinitely more impressive than winning a vacant IBF title vs. Akihiro Kondo.

So be consistent. Either you're counting the recognized titles or you're ignoring them. You can't say belts shouldn't matter and what should matter is lineage, and then try to add lineage and belts together to inflate the numbers.

Pacquiao is not an eight division world champion because whether you count the recognized organizations or choose to favor lineage, in either philosophy, he wasn't the champion of eight divisions. Combining them to get to 8 is ridiculous and everyone should be ashamed for going along with Arum's nonsense.
