He fought a faded De La Hoya, not a prime one. Big difference.

The point is, it was a star-making turn. Vasyl has nothing like that on the horizon. You want to talk about legacy? I don’t care how good a fighter is, he needs opponents to build a legacy. Mayweather couldn’t have built his PPV clout without the right dance partners.

A 37 year old Rigondeaux coming up 2 weight classes wasn't faded?

True, but Oscar was 36 and had already lost 4 times, including getting KO'd by Hopkins.

Faded? He only had 18 fights. It's not as though he had the resume of a DLH who had been through some tough battles. Rigo was the youngest 37 year old to ever step into the ring. Very well preserved, and lots of his fans thought he was going to school Loma. He also had the opportunity to fight Loma at 126 and for more money, but he ducked.

Quality of opposition isn’t the point. As I responded to the other poster:

So at essentially the same age, Lomachenko beat a 37 year old Rigondeaux, who moved up two weight classes, and doesn’t have name recognition outside hardcore boxing fans. Who’s in the future for Vasyl? After DLH, Mayweather would go on to defeat the likes of Hatton, JMM, Mosley, Cotto, Canelo and Pacquiao, amongst others. I don’t see any wins remotely close to any of those names in Lomo’s future.
