I don't rate Dempsey as high as many here, but I disagree he never beat any very good fighters. The Sharkey win is a win no matter what we think. Jack got the W. We can argue semantics all day, but it doesn't change the record. Gibbons is another very good win and to a tad bit lesser extent Firpo and Carpentier. My problem has always been more about who he didn't fight rather that who he did. That said, Dempsey was a great champion and an ATG in my book. I just don't rate him as high an ATG as others do.
