Trainer German Caicedo, who works with Cuban heavyweight puncher Luis Ortiz (28-1, 24 KOs), allowed a reasonable amount of time to pass before watching the contest with Deontay Wilder again. On March 3rd, Ortiz appeared to be on the verge of capturing the WBC world title when he badly hurt Wilder in the seventh round of their exciting fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

No way does he get a rematch unless it becomes a certainty that Wilder won't be fighting Joshua next. Probably not even then.

Sorry Luis.... I had you ahead on and feel you absolutely could have won on points. The fight was a virtual tie when it was stopped. You had a legit shot to beat Wilder, and you did wonders taking advantage of his poor defense.

You also could not get the job done. No doubt, no controversy, you lost.

You have basically rebuilt your career. Now, stay clean, stay active. Get 2-3 legit fights in and win. Make yourself available to the press, make yourself bankable. By 2019, Wilder/Joshua will have settled the #1 HW, and you can be in position for one more shot.

If AJ isn’t gonna fight Wilder next, I’d love to see a Wilder-Ortiz rematch. It’s better than watching Wilder beat up Breazeale. Unless of course Tyson Fury wants to back up some of that tough talk.

The only thing that would happen in a rematch is a earlier knock out. The coach thinking they were winning and Wilder has no defense only makes it even earlier
