A bad decision is a bad decision and as an American boxing fan I have seen a bunch of them in America in big fights and smaller fights. Sometimes the judges just fuked up but often the house fighter who they are building up gets wins that they really deserved to lose. Sometimes the decisions are so bad I can't believe it.The UK does often treat visiting boxers very badly on the cards if they are fighting a boxing hero. Germany can be bad as well. I am sure it happens all over the world. Clearly it happens in Australia.

It's the wrong result because GGG won both fights. You can put up all the pictures of a marked up GGG or GGG's head on Boner's body you want and it doesn't change the facts. GGG landed more punches in over half the rounds in both fights and fights are won by punches landed, not marked up faces. Every poll I have seen has the big majority of fans and experts saying GGG won both fights. They aren't terrible decisions but they are bad decisions and boxing history will remember them as bad decisions.

Not a robbery but anytime the judges decision is not inline with what "most" knowledgeable boxing fans thought they saw, it's not real good for the sport.

also the fact that a close contest went to Canelo was predictable.

Isnt this the truth. Some dude literally posted a gif showing how bad GGG is and I had to point out that GGG in the gif was using textbook boxing defense. Lean into a hook to reduce its velocity and have it glance your back instead of having it hit your side. Roll with the left hook that comes after the right hook. Pull to avoid the right straight. Exit with a jab to reestablish distance.

But nah, textbook defense doesnt fit the narrative so GGG ran instead of showcased superb defence? The ****?

I remember Sven Ottke losing pretty close, but clear fights to Charles Brewer x2, Byron Mitchell (a bit closer maybe a draw) and one of the worst officiated fights I can remember vs. Robin Reid. It's a shame he got out of the game as an "undefeated" fighter. No wonder he wouldn't go to the U.K for Calzaghe and vice-versa.

I think Japan back in the days used to be about the hardest to win a fight but these days it seems that close fights go the correct way over there for the most part.

This fight had multiple rounds that could have gone either way.
This was a close fight if you watch the bout without "favoritism"
and you have knowledge of the basics and understand the methodologies trying to be employed. Look at their techniques and see who is accomplishing positive results with their work rate and willingness to dominate.

This was a very good and evenly matched fight in the current boxing era. Neither man is an ATG but let that go and just enjoy a competitive match up!

I was looking for Canelo to fight the fight that Triple G fought!
Moving in & out and turning Triple GGG to gain angles! hahaha...

GGG is NOT an inside fighter, he wants punching room and Canelo decided to step in and try to stay in so the punching room was to his liking.
Remember GGG likes straight shots to set up his body shots but he didn't want to be that close to deal with Canelo's "crocked" (hooks) shots!
That's how the fight materialized and that's how it was played out!

Canelo is easily the most improved fighter in the last 4-5 years.
He has added upper body and head movement using rotations and side to side. He has improved his "el Gancho" (left hook) two fold! He is able to work laterally and in & out. People don't know that he was a very successful junior olympic kid and in those tourneys you have to box american style too!

GGG is GGG and he is above his prime, it's not an excuse it is a FACT! He is pushing his shots more often and his legs are not bringing him to follow up off the jab. His double jab is not an offensive weapon as it once was it has become a defense and a bad range finder.

It was an entertaining fight, it was a close decision and better than the first encounter.
I scored the fight 6-5-1 for Canelo but it could go the other way because it was close! I rarely score and even round but one of the early ones was the boring-est so I made it even!...
