  • Should Freddie Roach retire?

Manny left Roach and looked sensational for the first time in 8 years.

Alex Ariza said a long time ago that Roach never came up with good game plans and that Roach's condition makes him unable to even whisper basic instructions.

Manny carried Roach, not the other way around.

Now that Mannys gone, should Roach just retire?

Why should he retire? He's still mentally alert and has a wealth of experience to offer young boxers. **** Pacquiao.

No, his health will probably deteriorate without the stimulation. He might want to bring someone in for the padwork like what Cus did once he got too old, it gave him a better perspective outside the ring. Maybe little adjustments like that, but there is no doubt he still has valuable input and a wealth of knowledge and experience.

He has a great eye for finding 2 or 3 weaknesses/tendencied in the opponent and exploiting those in training camp, he kept it simple and often that worked because he would get established fighters who needed quick fixes.

The only guy he really evolved and progressed over a long period of time was obviously Manny.

I still think he did a stellar job with Khan also. He conditioned him better, sparred him hard, and that improved his punch resistance and made him battle hardened. He also tightened up his defence as a mainly attacking fighter. People forget what a raw product Khan was before he went to Roach, and the fact that his career was in real jeopardy.
