Its true tarver is just a name now I wasn't impressed with him at all against dawson, his win over clinton woods flattered him.

Dawson has accomplished a lot for such a young guy, but he needs a couple of more big wins to get more experience and polish up defensively, and make a bigger name for himself. Don't think he is quite ready for b-hop or calzaghe just yet, why would he wanna a risk it anyway it doesn't make good sense long term, he needs to stay patient and continue with solid challenges or he could end up like pavlik getting dominated by one of the old timers and damage his reputation and business wise his stock would fall.

If Calzaghe fought Dawson it would be yet another lose-lose fight like Lacy or Kessler. If he loses it apparently proves he was never any good to begin with. If he wins it apparently proves that Dawson was never any good to begin with!

Dawson's resume is better then Kessler, to say he has to fight him to prove anything makes no sense. HE was unified champion by beating fighters not as good as on Chad resume. Dawson has more wins @ LHW then Hopkins and Calzaghe combined.

dawson is young, and a top 20 p4p easy now. he has a few straps, and deserves a shot. plus joe would get 2 more straps. he either has to fight dawson, or bhop, or retire.

Tarver is way past prime. He looked bad against Elvir Muriqi last year, in fact he received a gift decision in that one. And Clinton Woods was awful in his fight with Tarver, anyone could have beaten him that night.

‘They’re talking about Chad Dawson, but at the end of the day he’s a light-heavyweight who’s won a couple of fights and has just beaten Antonio Tarver, who’s an old man. It doesn’t get me excited. What’s the point?

‘If Kelly Pavlik had beaten Bernard Hopkins, people would have said you’ve got to go and fight Pavlik, but with Hopkins winning that one there’s no one left for me to face. Chad Dawson is a light-heayweight version of Pavlik. He hasn’t proved himself.

Looks like a possibility of a Dawson-Calzaghe match isn't happening soon or at all.
Calzaghe is making excuses Darkstar. Just so happens that Dawson is more proven than both Kessler and Lacy, and hes seen by many as the best light heavyweight going right now. Hes beaten Adamek( was an unbeaten champion) Johnson and Tarver. I think hes proven enough.

:EDIT: Although it is a smart career decision for Joe especially if he wants to retire undefeated because hes not winning this fight.

does it matter? does it matter that all the American organisations scored it to their own fighter? does it matter that Cortez allowed Hopkin to hold on head butt fake low blows etc?

No, because Calzaghe outgunned him. Bernard hid like a ***** and wouldn't come out to play because he was getting pinged all over. He looked like an old man that night because he was made to look like an old man. Would've been better off fighting Cortez, two old bald blokes slugging it out. Calzaghe on another planet to these douches

may as well do it though, just to shut everyone up and kill off another overhyped American dream
