The two main exceptions are of course Sugar Ray Robinson and Leonard, they are anomalies however. Heavyweight has historically been the most popular division.

But even if Floyd and Manny were heavyweights, there wouldn't be a return to Ali's days. Boxing was entrenched in popular culture even before Ali. That is no longer true.
Thank you for your great reply. I got a question when you come back. Wasn't the Fab four bigger then any HW though? outside of the Ali era. Because I'm looking through old boxing news and magazines along with newspapers and it seem like the FAB FOUR got a lot more coverage then the likes of 90's Holyfield, Bowe Moorer etc. Is that because boxing was bigger in the 80's compare to the 90's? So obviously there's more coverage on boxing in the 80's.. or was the Fab Four really that appealing.

If they were together in the division, they would have been forced to fight each other by now, and the heavyweight division would be fantastic.
Not to mention there will now be four big super stars instead of just 2. The Heavyweight division is realistically only 1-2 megastars away from being relevant in the US again. Sadly the likes of Mitchell and ****ing Taco Arreola is not it
