Why when you had guys like Floyd Mayweather Jr a division below him both Canelo Alvarez and Miguel Cotto held belts within his division. Who the f*ck was up at 168 that could have earned GGG even half the money and popularity from the general public than getting any one of those fights would do?

By the way, Marvin Hagler is an ATG and he never left middleweight. Carlos Monzon is an ATG and he never left the middleweight division. Bernard Hopkins fought at middleweight for the vast majority of the first 16 years of his career at middleweight. GGG has only been fighting for 11 years total. B-Hop fought two epic fights with Antaun Echols. Image View Removed. Please Click Here. And lets not forget the most unnecessary and unwanted trilogy in the history of the sport with Robert Allen. In any case, wasting time with those guys kept Hopkins busy until he was able to get a shot at Tito Trinidad and Oscar De La Hoya. Beating those guys made B-Hop a star. Yet, I don't hear you whining about how B-Hop could have moved up to 168 at any point. He made the right choice for his career. If GGG beats Canelo then he would have made the right choice as well.

HBO used to push no name American fighters aswell tho. They have always hyped up their fighters.
No one is in Mayweather, Pacquiao or Oscar league when it comes to PPV but in todays market GGG is one of the biggest draws. Outside of Canelo who can draw more than GGG? Most big fights nowadays arent even on PPV |
