Sounds like our troops will be there for a good while longer. I understand if we leave now, it's like throwing away all we gained but let those people figure it out themselves. They're not 8 year olds.

Staying in Afghanistan is the definition of pointless. Funny that people were so against staying in Iraq when that was 10 times more doable than Afghanistan .

Those mountains don't lie. And it feels pointless, even if the Afghan people are "stable", I have a feeling we'd have to go back if Al Qaeda gains power there. Sounds like a never ending cycle.
