There is a consensus among climate scientists today that the trend is an increase in temperature. Charlatans like Al Gore are not helping the issue.
Regarding the Great Global Warming Swindle, this has not been well recieved by scientists

Professor Sir John T Houghton FRS CBE described the film as
a mixture of truth, half truth and falsehood put together with the sole purpose of discrediting the science of global warming

In fact in responding to complaints about the Channel 4 documentary OFCOM (the telecommunications industry watchdog in the UK) actually concluded that the documentary does not cause harm to its audience because:
the link between human activity and global warming... became settled before March 2007
You're a big daft ****

The overwhelming majority of scientists involved in climate based sciences are of the opinion that anthropogenic climate change is a fact and that it will have far reaching consequences. This film (which was produced and directed by a man who has a track record of misleading documentary films) has taken data out of context, made things up, and generally been fairly deceitful in pursuing its agenda.

The director responded to an email from a geneticist called Armand Leroi expressing concern about the use of data known to be flawed with the single sentence:
Evidently the filmmaker is serious about presenting and exploring the facts.
