I think Spence has the speed and skill over Kirkland but Kirkland would have a good punchers chance. Id be rooting for Kirkland, always put on good fights!

Spence would get Kirkland outta there within 5, James’ chin was bad on some nights and I think this would’ve been one of those nights!

If not then Spence decisions him and controls him with the jab and works the body, Kirkland’s defense is super bad!

Now to think about it, if Anne Wolfe is in his corner it could be interesting if the fight goes late and Kirkland starts getting his engine going!

That man was nonstop in his prime, shame more less exciting fighters became champs and he didn’t!

Is this a joke? Kirkland was a very good but not great fighter. Spence is a one in a generation type fighter. If you are going to have a fantasy fight, try Canelo as a welterweight against Spence. Spence would clobber him.

His only real win of even modest significance (and I ain't counting Molina) was El Perro who at his best was only marginally more refined and it really only came down to chance whose chin cracked first. Not even convinced he was that big a puncher TBH though he did score plenty of impressive KOs against club fighters.
Angulo punched himself out in that fight. Had he paced himself more he would've won easily.

If Spence's power carried over well to 154 then I'd pick him by early knockout. Kirkland has one of the worst chins in boxing and I'm surprised he made it as far as he did.

Kirkland was definitely a mini version of Tyson in the sense that in many times even though they'd get caught, they never seriously understood the implications of future cerebral nerve damage and the depletion of permanently destroyed cells. Some cells don't reproduce.

                  Even Toney, Holyfield, Bowe...

These guys weren't too defensively sound at all times even though one from the other had great defense.

It's a think that Floyd seriously preached throughout his career. Even Canelo vs GGG 1, Canelo preferred to move like Leonard vs Hagler. In the second fight Canelo had to take risks because that was the narrative that ESPN Spanish had layed on him. Canelo could simply not fought as he did in the first fight, and most likely the judges would've have agreed as well.

Yeah. Dude thought he had Mandingo finished and got carried away. Perro was no great technician himself but he was still a level above Kirkland.

Honestly a desperately poor thread even by the standards of the forum's latest spam artist.

Kirkland has good defensive movement when he's focused. When he gets carried away he's an easy target on his bull rush.

But still, does the Kirkland that beat Brian Vera beat Spence at 154?
