True, but they are mostly the old pacfanatics.

Roach accolades: Think he knows a thing or two about boxing? You can dislike the fighter but at some point you have to believe when the experts mostly agree: he is the best on the planet at this time.

As for the fight itself, I now believe it is going to be tough for both fighters but I doubt it goes anywhere near the distance

Alvarez is one of the goods, not greats. I see something superbly skilled and dynamically entertaining in Golovkin's presence. Based upon Canelo's Saturday night opponent, GGG should administer quite a beating when they collide.

i could be way wrong and maybe i am but by the way ggg talks he almost sounds like he would prefer if canelo just gives him the belt

Alvarez should hope he goes down nice and early and not fight it too much, Golovkin becomes very open after gaining the momentum.

Also there are 18 pro divisions/14 amateur divisions.
Pro world champions belts are awarded every title fights/6 months.
Plus there are 4 belts/federations WBO/WBC/IBF/WBA, not counting IBO and Ring Mag lineal belts.
Obviously some pro divisions are partly unified but overhall I think a lot more pro belts are awarded.
So the competition is somehow tougher in amateur boxing, it takes probably more boxing talent to get the gold in amateurs.
That's why only the greatest american fighters won those trophies, but the opposite doesn't work (could you imagine Kelly Pavlik winning a gold medal as an amateur?).
Of course, it doesn't mean being a great amateur/technician makes you systematically a great pro boxer, it takes more durability and maturity.

I see more in Alvarez.
He has shown more, against much better opponents.
