If you talk to any military or government official about war, they will agree that having good strategy means being able to count your loses. Which we clearly didnt. You don't gain anything by not going after him either. The long term problems you face by letting your enemies know you are willing to lay on your back and do nothing will be worse.

He cause a lot of problems, did a lot of damage and cost us millions but he needed to die.

What the U.S needs to do is learn when to get involved and when not to. Afghanistan was justified, not Iraq.
