Nicki was a failure a greedy bastard who didnt know the rules and as a result had a short reign. He got most of his own guys killed.
When John was boss it was a mafia renaissance if only he was a bit more low key he would prob still be boss. Everybody ate well when John was the boss.

Both were awful. Scarfo was lazy and the Philly mob relied heavily on Atlantic City Casino money. He was reckless and ordered hits for petty nonsense.
Gotti was not respected at all. He was a horrible boss. Flaunting the family business out in the open, bragging, showing off and surrounding himself with loud, dumb yes men. I once had a beef with a good friend of his son. A made guy who is now a capo in another family.
The real boss of the mob was Vincent Gigante. He was head of the Genovese family. The Genoveses had key politicians, judges and cops on the take and for decades were untouchable. Gigante was smart, he insulated himself by putting “bosses” out in the forefront while he controlled everything quietly. He pretended to be insane which kept the FBI on their toes. The Genovese family had the power and juice.

Ghost you will know the guy Scarfo killed that was a real stand up kid... Horrible thing to do. Ditto for Gotti.

Gigante was a pro boxer, light heavy, Scarfo was an amateur fighter.
A lot of people don’t know that Gravano was the one who sanctioned Gotti as a boss. He purposely took the Underboss roll but was fully prepared to kill Gotti if he didn’t work out as a boss. I remember old man Dellacroce, I used to see him in his coffee shop in Ridgewood, Queens. Salty, mean bastard. Old school gangster. After he died the coffee shop became a hangout for young wannabes like Gotti Jr., and his friends. Bunch of douchebags.

I heard the above, don't know if it is true. But I can say this whether we are talking fighters, mobsters, there seems to be a real let down for what is representing. I trust your experiences a zillion more than what I know...Most stuff in East Harlem was strictly local...although I did know of the Purple gang guys!! in East Harlem. Had a few guys that lived in that area of the hood and they knew some of them. Talk about some viscious bastards!
yes it was Testa, broke a lot of people's hearts, speaks to what you had said about Scarfo.
