Not saying Bautista perfect, but people weren't fleeing on rafts thru shark infested waters... They had a booming economy... Not a perfect place, but what is... At least no one was willing to risk their lives fleeing

A complete different country. Before Castro and his revolutionaries took over the capital Havana was in the #4 spot behind London, NYC and Paris in capital of the world.

That should tell you how different it was.

You have to be an ignorant fool to support a regime that literally for decades people fled on rafts thru shark infested waters...

Do you know any Cubans that lived under his regime? Or did you just see a Michael Moore film and think it was cool...

What is your basis for your reasoning? Mine is the fact that people are fleeing on rafts thru shark infested waters and possibilty of never seeing their families again.. What is yours?
All corrupt and all run by the mafia. People like Castro don't just come into power out of nowhere, the people were unhappy with their living conditions under Batista. There was a huge gap between the rich and the poor and the economy wasn't growing.

But the riches were shared amongst very few...a handful of Batista's group and Americans...some of which were mafia gangsters.

Almost all Cubans were just poor people with very little. People who leave Cuba on rafts do so seeking riches in the US...Dominicans do the same and they are free to leave.

            Lmao....

So america, or Canada, or Europe don't have educated people and don't have good healthcare? America doesn't lead the enitre world in foreigners coming for healthcare???

Outside of the Michael moore film you saw, how many people actually go to Cuba for their "superior" healthcare??? Should be a lot,, probably thousands and thousands of wealthy foreigners trying to get into Cuba for their healthcare, right!?????

The Cuban peasants weren't getting any of the riches that the mafia was handing Batista, that is one of the reasons why the peasants supported the revolution and Castro. One rumor that i was told by some of the old Cubans a few years ago was that Batista had plans to ''expand'' and add more casinos and hotels, replacing the rural areas that were inhabited by the poor peasants.

One of the few things that Castro did that i respect so much was he eliminated the racism that plagued the country during the Batista-era. Nat King Cole performed in Cuba and couldn't stay at the 'Hotel Nacional' because it was only for Whites.

There is a lot about Cuba and Castro that is really good and quite remarkable. There are many policies that weren't good at all and I disagreed with. Still, people should at least recognize the incredibly difficult task Cuba had, with the US adamantly opposed to them for the sole purpose of being Socialist and even worse after the collapse of the Soviet Union, so little support on top of harsh sanctioning placed on them which really made it impossible to progressive much at all. Which made some of what they did accomplish that much more admirable.

This gets into something way more deep than I want, but Marx, and many Marxists, believed communism would come out of capitalism, that it was the natural evolution. But the key is that it would occur in a highly developed industrialized country, like Germany back then. The idea wasn't to come out of a poor, small country because they wouldn't have the resources available for socialism to work. So for a country like Cuba to make the transition was always going be a difficult one and entirely needed outside assistance, that being the USSR and other communist countries like China. Alto the Soviets and Cuba had a very good relationship for many years, there were many problems and the Soviets didn't help Cuba as much as they should have in many regards. Then of course when they collapsed, they were really ****ed.

Now go to Miami and they all hate him.
It's not about "what you believe"

It's a fact,,,, people fled for decades thru shark infested waters on a raft...

Just think about that... No need to for opinions... Just think about the facts...

Like I said.... Liberals act like trump is the anti Christ, yet not one has moved to Canada let alone on a raft thru shark infested waters...

If people are willing to die and never see their families again, that should tell you all you need to know...

And Cuba isnt pro Castro or their wouldn't be people fleeing... Literally risking their lives and fleeing... Half of America hates trump but no one is risking their lives swimming to Cuba

I really don't even see how this is debatable... PEOPLE RISK THEIR LIVES TO FLEE

One thing I definitely appreciate about Fidel was that the ****er wouldn't die. Outlived 11 US presidents. Survived most assassination attempts than probably anyone in history. Still kept truckin like a boss.

We're talking about the 3rd world...I lived in the Dominican Republic for a couple of years and traveled to many Caribbean countries and I can tell you these things don't exist in most of the Caribbean.

Hugo Chavez went to Cuba for cancer treatment. Actually many Canadian go to Cuba for dental implants to save money. Cubans have one of the highest life expediencies in the world. You should do a little research...you'd be surprised.

Cubans didn't have healthcare or education before Castro.
