Verdict on the lounge right now...

I'm always a very positive and encouraging poster, but **** me if the lounge hasn't fallen into further depths this past month or so.

I usually log in and expect an intellectually stimulating mix of "why are all girl's such whore's who deserve to be punch'ed and fuck'ed?", "if god doesnt exis't, then how cum i can take a shit?" and "is the greates't art film of all time Predator with Arnold Schwarzenegger?"

As bad as that **** is, it's better than what we have right now. Let's take a look:

* Red making a thread about Derranged. FFS. I don't like to see threads calling other posters ****s in the lounge (wait..... what?) the Thunderdome exists for a reason. This is a discussion lounge about a wide range of things. Discussion of individual posters shouldn't be one of them.

* About 100 threads about who "the point giver" is. What is this, kindergarten? Who gives a ****?

* A thread about Maiiiiiiiii from PB32. Jesus Christ, if it's not bad enough that Maiii-itis has infected NSB, you've gotta bring that **** here as well?

* Why are Puerto Ricans so bad in English? Seriously, I'd do this **** as SATIRE and get banned for it.

* Friends vs. How I Met Your Mother. See, I don't mind Fat Yank sitcoms and Fat Yank movies. But it's always the most generic, MOR, lowest-common-denominator choices. I never see much chat about, say, Frasier or some **** like that in here... but I'm amazed I've not seen a "the official too and a half men appreci'ation thread" in here yet.

* "Story" threads. Seriously, most of you ****s wouldn't even be worth a suck of Roald Dahl's bell end. Entertain, or **** off.



There's only two or three threads I give a pass to on the front page right now:

Game of Thrones discussion. I don't watch this show, but people do, so **** it.

Check out this beautiful right punch. I lol'd.

The NBA thread. I can't stand any sport except boxing, but if it's all in one place I guess there's not much harm.

See, if one person argued the point with me, and showed they had an ounce of sense between their ears, I'd think again. But the dissenters just amount to "yo, this lounge is grate, fugg you". It proves my point, really.

When was it palpably better, on average?
IIRC, nearly a decade ago, we'd have rippuh spamming the Lounge
with his Faulknerian diarrhea. Others followed in his wake. Not too
long after, there was the likes of GorillaDog spewing his brand of
crap. The Lounge was shit, and has always been shit.

Some people LIKE to roll around in a virtual pig sty of uncensored
stupidity, for a few minutes at a time, then get back to IRL normal
intelligence (normal having a different meaning in parts of the US
and Puerto Rico).

If you weren't in the Lounge for just a few minutes, what made the
time bearable was again, lack of censorship: You could seek refuge
in Libido Sanchez' babe threads, or in BigPoppaPump's semiregular
"I suck cock, wanna see pix?" threads: the sort of prurient relief we
just can't have anymore.

Outside cheap nudity, the key source of a sense of community, or
at least of consensus, was piling onto whatever thread was taking
a squatting dump on whoever NSB's whipping boy was at the time.
Horus was real popular as a target. Tunney too. Even Tuggers took
his own turn, but then he'd posted his pencilstub for all to laugh at
(never mind likelihood that those laughing were similarly endowed).

These days, porn is out, lol.
These days, it's tough to single out a consensus whipping boy, and
I guess your 'Lounge BS Of The Week' acknowledges that focusing
on separate instances of ******ation, rather than a single ******, is
the more feasible approach.

This Lounge has always been a latrine.
There were moments when it did shine, but anything that glitters
is made brighter by so much drab shit all around it for contrast.

You might be right, Horge. I just seem to remember that there was an older age range, and people like Rippuh had more to say than the average troll today.

It's just a shame that whatever issue of the day gets discussed doesn't get anything better than "whores need to be whipped" as a response.

The sense of almost aggressive anti-intellectualism is killing me lately though. It grates when you see people talking about what the highest form of art is.. then it turns out to be some **** like Stallone movies FFS. (and I like Stallone).

I don't expect everyone to log in and discuss Nietzsche, but a large % of the people here seem to have a real age of about 19 and an intellectual age of about 9.
