Default Shane Mosley vs Whitaker and Duran's comp at 135 and 147

Minus Ray Leonard of course. Do you see Shane beating the comp those fighters did? I'm talking Mosley before the Forrest fight. That's when is speed, body punching, power, and confidence were on point

minus leonard, shane cleans house on both their resumes at lw and ww. jcc beats him at lightweight, but not at welter. nelson, trinidad, buchanan, and ramirez were all tough guys and would give him his best fights but stylistically i don't think they present any problems for mosley.

Two things to ponder in this thread. One, Shanes comp was very weak at 135 with Holiday and Molina being his best wins. Second. If you're going to match the 135 Shane against Duran's lightweight comp does Shane have to make weight the same day as Duran's opponents did? If so this is going to be a very different fighter in my opinion as Shane had lots of trouble making the lightweight limit under the day before rules.

The champs at that time most importantly Stevie Johnston wanted to parts of Mosley. They were #1 and #2 in the divison. After Johnston regained his belt against Ceasar Bazan. Merchant asked was he going to talk to Bob Arum who was his promoter to unify with Mosley. He said he wanted to fight in Denver. He fought Rios on the Tapis vs Ayala undercard in Vegas next. After Mosley moved up to 147 because Johnston avoided him. He decided to fight Angel Manfredy who beat Gatti and Robinson at 135.

Johnston was a really good fighter. A fight with him and Mosley would've been really good to. Imo a great name on his resume

Nobody wanted to give a shot to Mosley at 135. Just like they didn't want to give Pryor a shot at 135

Maybe Im wrong, but I remember Shane having a difficult time making weight at 135. My question is though, would Shane have to make the same day weigh in Durans opponents had to make. Because if he does I think its reasonably to believe both his stamina and strength would be effected considerably, no?

I watched most of Shane's fights at 135. Well everything that is out there. The only time he really struggled to make 135 was the John Brown. He weighed 153 on fight night. At the weigh-in Merchant point out he looked dry. He moved up after that fight.

But you could have a point about same day weigh-ins. I'm against them to be honest. Wish we had 15 rounds though
