At the end of the day the bookies arent going to favor anyone they think will lose after statistics are done . Where ppl place their bet wont change who the favorite is ,it wi'll change the odds .

ex : Lewis vs Tyson ...Majority of bettors bet Tyson thinking an easy k.o on the proposed Lewis chin. Statistically it didn't work out that way and Lewis was Favored in that fight despite the shift for Tyson , Bookies cannot change a favorite after statistics are calculated ,they can change the odds of the contest. Ex : Fury was not as big under dog as fight got closer with Klitchko as it was at first .

The bookies usually do have the odds on favorite right in combat sports ,TEAM sports get more complicated and need point spreads and countless variable taking into account . In the end bookies are the ones who usually have it right otherwise there wouldnt be anymore bookies ,they win more than lose the stakes.

You're missing the big picture. Yes, the odds are on the house, and there are minutiae that you're describing. But if the bookies think that an event has a 4/5 chance of happening, the line will generally reflect that.
