He could have easily chosen an easier route for AJ, like Trevor Bryan or Michael Hunter. Yet with Eddie Hearn's stubborn pride and infinite wisdom, he chose Andy Ruiz, Jr instead; Now Joshua career would never be the same again.

AJ will lose the rematch and Eddie has no one to blame but himself because he chose both the opponent, and the venue. That's what he gets for poaching PBC fighters.

Now it has backfired in his face since there was no venue stipulated in the rematch clause. He left that part of the contract blank.

So at the moment Al Haymon has Eddie Hearn by the balls and can stall the rematch for as long as he wants, until Eddie Hearn is willing and ready to negotiate and agree to all of Haymon's terms in good faith or risk losing all of the belts to the PBC by default.

It wasn't Josh's idea to go to America and he was also against the "British Invasion" narrative Hearn created because it's bad for his brand. Left to him, he didn't want to go to America and he believes the UK is doing well now and there's no point going to America. He's already making over $20million per fight here, what's there in America for him? Chisora said it best when he said, "it's all Eddie Hearn's fault" after the fight.

Hearn needed Josh's star power to expand Matchroom USA and his deal with DAZN (that was the plan). And most likely get Wilder vs Josh 1 in the US before returning to the UK for the rematch. But his plan fell apart after Big Baby failed the drug test. After that, Josh wanted Ortiz because to him, every heavyweight is dangerous and most times, it's the ones you don't rate that will beat you. And he has fought a Southpaw before and did extremely well. Also, Ortiz is slow and he doesn't have a great chin. But Ortiz and his team ducked the fight. However, Matchroom being Matchroom with a lot of dumb jocks working as match makers for the company, they went for the worst style matchup they could possibly find for Josh. Josh doesn't fight well against short guys and Ruiz also has fast hands and granite chin. They had no reason to pick Ruiz and he isn't a good sell for casuals. Josh and his team rejected Ruiz as a late replacement but Hearn forced the issue. The pressure also mounted with the hype about how Wilder destroyed Breazeale in a round and it was all now on Josh to put on a better performance than Wilder did, against a live opponent with granite chin and fast hands. Hearn also kept putting the Wilder pressure on the guy with all his shenanigans on the week leading up to the fight. And if you watched all the interviews Josh did on fight week, you could tell from his body language that everything is alright and he wasn't right for the fight.

Hearn is a dumb jock who rode Josh's back to where he's today and he's lucky Josh fell on his lap. I'm not a fan of Haymon but he's a nuclear physicist and genius compared to Hearn.

As for Wilder and Fury: for all Tyson Fury's shenanigans/antics, he and Josh are the two smartest boxers alive. With Fury, he knows how to maximise opportunities and cover up his weakness. And he's the type of guy that would sell bread to a baker. Not a fan of Fury but he's a very smart guy.

Wilder saw Fury as an opportunity to catch another big name in British boxing unaware when he isn't ready because he was the former champion that got stripped/banned for drugs. However, Fury peeped the game and he knew Wilder isn't a thinking boxer and he could easily beat him by getting into his and staying away from the only weapon he has, as a one-trick pony. And to put himself back in contention, at that stage when he's not fully ready, Wilder is the only top heavyweight he could beat. He didn't go near Josh and Dillian Whyte for a reason because he knows both would hurt him in different ways and they're not as emotional as Wilder. So, the credit belongs to Fury not Wilder. And he'll disgrace Wilder again in the rematch (Wilder is a good style matchup for Fury). He got the job done and got himself $100 million from ESPN. He's the winner not Wilder.
