MTV's Bully Beatdown just proved that MMA fighters are **** and can't box.

Oh I know bro.. I was just saying cuz this episode that this thread is about had a hockey player that was used to slugging and may have had a little pop. The MMA guy he fought was a submission specialist. So I was just trying to put it in perspective a bit.

Thats crazy, imma check the show out. I'm a hardcore boxing fan so it's hard for me to be fair and unbiased towards MMA simply because of the holding and wrestling on the ground, I want holding to be as big of a foul as butts or low blows in boxing even. regardless i'm gonna take a look at the show and see if it is atleast funny.

Unless the boxer has some solid wrestling\grappling training behind them I doubt it. I wrestled for years before I started boxing and the technical aspect of grappling is as great as striking. Some people are naturally strong but unless they have the mat time behind them they're likely to get thrown around. I know, I've been on both ends of the ass kicking.

In college, when I first introduced myself in English class and have to say a little story about yourself, I say i'm a boxer and talk about ti a little. Everyone wants to be my friend after that and tease me saying they wouldn't wanna throw it down with me but i just chuckle.

In speech class I would have guys wanting to get into Boxing after I thoroughly talk to them about it.

Good I think. I saw two scrubs handle the MMA guys without getting submitted. Everybody knows how to get a headlock.

The guy who really needs his ass kicked is the host of bully beatdowns. You want to talk about a guy who used to get abused in school before turning to karate? He is the poster child. He looks like he got his ass kicked all over the halls of whatever school he went to.

LOL @ using this fake MTV show as a basis for your argument.

Its funny how many of you expect MMA fighters to box like boxers in a boxing match, during a match where kicking is completely legal.

Have you ever seen a boxer VS a kickboxer?

The boxer's stance alone leaves him vulnerable and helpless against a simple leg kick.

Of course an MMA fighter's boxing isn't going to resemble the way a boxer's does during a boxing match. Its an MMA fight, and there are several different other elements that you have to be prepared for like takedowns, knees, kicks, and elbows.

I love both sports, but the ignorance on both sides of the fence from people who have probably never tried either sport is ridiculous.

Funny how everyone at my gym, which consists of both professional boxers, as well as professional MMA fighters (some are both) gets along fine, and each share a mutual respect for the other sport.
