Adrien Broner is in no hurry to leave a 135-pound division devoid of appealing opponents.

The gifted Cincinnati native made it clear on a conference call that his Feb. 16 fight against Gavin Rees will be far from his last at lightweight. The WBC lightweight champion emphasized that he’ll consider moving up to 140 pounds at his own pace and won’t react to external pressure to seek more attractive alternatives at junior welterweight, despite that he completely dismantled Mexico’s Antonio DeMarco in his first lightweight fight.

Dont like the Reese fight at all but the lightweight division is super weak. Vasquez would be a huge test for Adrien as Micky is the best fighter in the division
Abril, Burns would be good fights as well, much better than the Gavin fight

Good post. I would absolutely see him up against any of those three rather than Rees.

Broner should stay at 135 and fight Burns Vazquez Abril Gamboa then move up to 140

He will rule 135 because he is just too big and strong for the weight class. As I have said in the past about Donaire, until these guys settle at the weight class they should really be at, their opponents will simply be overmatched. In reality Broner should be at 140/147 and in reality Donaire should be at 130, maybe even 135. Even though they make these lighter weights, their frames are built for higher weights. I am not taking anything away from them but they probably won't be truly challenged or put in danger until they move up some more. I would love to see Broner/Pac at 140-147.

Don't have a problem with that. This kid is very young and just moving into 135 and fans are already demanding him to move up(most likely to see him lose). Season yourself and gain the experience you need before you keep pushing your body up. He was the best SFW and he's already the best LW in the world. Stay there and build yourself.

There are good fights for him at 135.

Burns, Vasqeuz and Abril would be good wins for him.

I told you Broner was smart. He knows exactly what people who press him to move up are thinking. I can see Broner having a great career. He will move up but he will do the most at 135 before moving up. Also notice the bitterness in this writer, can you feel it? "Devoted of opponents?" Really? If Broner moved up how long would it take for people to find that lost "Manny Pacquiao" at lightweight who they proceed to call the next great thing and then say Broner ducked him? Perhaps try to entice Broner into lightweight again? Know these people are very knowable of the damage floating up and down weight classes can do for you. All they think about is the fastest way to STOP Broner of building a good career. That's all that's in their minds. They see the talent and they HATE it. And because they are snakes and think they're smart, they do this. /rant

If you can make weight, stay.
If you can't, then GTFO of there
