  • Spence's chin and recovery time is questionable at worst. Here's why.

Emmanuel Lartey a light hitting opponent for Spence back in 2013. Now, it was 2013 but Recovery time and chin is genetically acquired, either you have it or you don't have it. Spence over committed at 27:32 after he hit Lartey with a body shot Lartey then counters with a straight right hand which he buckled Spence's legs completely with his lead hand, instead of his power left hand because he is a south paw, it was his FIRST flush shot in Spence's chin. After the 7th round Spence started with his legs still buckled, and Lartey attacked, and Spence backed up throughout the whole fight.

A fighter who got buckled but have a good recovery time doesn't back up when he is an attacking fighter, especially after recovering for 1 whole minute after the shot buckled your legs. Bradley took the best shots of Provo, buckling him and knocking him down but after the shot, he press forward because of his recovery time.

"BUT CARSON JONES WOBBLED BROOK!" Yes Carson Jones hit brook with a thunderous shot, and Brook took it really well, but immediately after the round Brook went back on to what he does best, boxing and attacks, having no indication that he is still hurt after 1 minute, but spence does even after the 1 minute recovery time and throughout the whole of round 8, and Brook proved his chin once again by taking the best Shots of the 92% KO monster in Gennady Golovkin.

But we will never know till we see them fight.

He was never dropped tho, let's not forget Senchenko hurt Brook, Jose Cotto hurt Canelo, that doesn't mean they can't take a punch

Sanchenko hurt Brook but Brook recovered so fast, and easily beat him. Cotto hurt Canelo, and landed combinations AFTER he got hit with the titanic left hook, but Canelo immediately recovered and fought back to beat Cotto, while he was still looking like an Irish ginger kid fighting a grown ass man. Spence got hit with Lartey's FIRST flush shot in the fight and buckled his legs, and then even after 1 minute of recovery in between rounds, Spence was in wobbly legs in the opening round and refused to engage Lartey. Spence's recovery time is AT WORST questionable.

Paulie Malignaggi and Demetrius Andrade are both on Youtube interviews with Fighthype and Dontae, giving valid reasons why they have Kell Brook winning the fight. Both basically say Earl Spence, Jr. is great coming forward but is another fighter when somebody starts hitting back. Both question his ability to handle the pressure in an actual fight. And they speak from firsthand knowledge, not some fantasy land.

fight was almost 5 years ago.........the key is to gain experience & knowledge when you're a young rising fighter like that & those things happen to all fighters on the rise.

          waste of a time.

Excellent point but we can't rely always on boxers to give a fully accurate analysis, because sometimes they can be wrong, but Malinaggi is right though in this subject. Brook is a huge welterweight with huge power at 147, people act too much like Spence is a Marvin Hagler who would walk through Kell Brook. Imagine if Brook landed 1/4 of the shots he had hit Porter with.

3 1/2 years ago. Chin and recovery time is genetically acquired either spence has one or he doesn't and the latter is most likely.

You gotta good point, I've always favored Brook in this fight but I'm less confident after Golovkin basically broke his face

chin and recovery time is genetic? partially......but recovery time is strictly experience. has nothing to do with genetics. and chin can be improved with sparring heavy hitters. getting more use to the punch. & spence at this point hasn't even proven a poor chin........
