50 cent over nasty nas?? Wow the get rich or die trying soundtrack was cool massacare had a few dope track but he never really had anything that lyrically ever stood out to me he's a huge success because he sold out to sell the world his "gangster" image. Please don't get me started on animal ambition either that was a complete waste he could have done something with that album but he has to to make radio music. Nas is arguably the goat off lyrical abilities alone listen to illmatic, and as u listen to it keep in mind he was like 17 or 18 when he made the best hip hop album ever

Yeah but I'm not talking about lyrical ability I'm straight talking about impact/iconically. Now I'll admit I don't know how big Nas was in the 90s but are you telling me he had songs as big as 'In da club' 'Piggybank' 'Many Men' not in terms of popularity but straight impact.
I don't wanna debate about lyrical ability though because it straight complicates things.

Hey no way I'm arguing where or not 50 is one of the most successful artist. I'm not tryna diss him either because he is very inspiring to me, knowing where he grew up and the fact that he's a damn miracle 9 bullets and your telling me a few years later he'll be on top of charts and in films with huge I'm mean huge actors. With all that being said that doest make him a top 5 great if were going off that **** top 5 rappers should b Birdman, Wayne, diddy, Ross, and either master p or Dre. The fact that nas dropped in the same year that big dropped his first project which is one of the best albums ever. Same year pac dropped all eyes on me, Jay dropped reasonable doubt, and common dropped ressuerection. Nas threw himself against all that competition and out of all of them 20 Yeats later that album is the greatest. Nas was so ahead of his time it's crazy nasty sort of killed hip hop with illmatic because no album will ever come close to it.

The difference is there was no twitter, social media etc, but anyone following rap or music at that time knows he was considered one of the greatest rappers ever which I would say is a big impact. In the end it's subjective though, but for me I think he had a bigger impact.
