  • Does Jermall Charlo have to fight another eliminator if GGG passes on the fight?

The WBC ordered GGG-Charlo as an eliminator to fight Canelo. If GGG passes and fights Murata will Jermall have to fight someone else or will he be automatically installed as the mandatory?

    INTERIM CHAMPION:
    JERMALL CHARLO (US)

    WBC top 5 rankings
    1 .- Gennady Golovkin (Kazakhstan)
2 .- Martin Murray (GB) SILVER
    3 .- David Lemieux (Canada)
4 .- Kamil Szeremeta (Poland) EBU
5 .- Willie Monroe Jr. (US)

I think Charlo is fighting Suleski next. Then If GGG passes the mando would go to the next guy.

He better maintain his mandatory status. If he wants to defend it, it should be his call not wbc. They pulled this crap on eleider Alvarez as well. That guy never got a shot against wbc stevenson in 2 years, and was forced to defend his mandatory spot several times.

The WBC announced back in January that the winner of Charlo-Centeno would get the winner of Canelo/GGG II. Obviously, that turned out not to be true. WBC is full of shyt.

WBC backed off of that, granting Canelo a voluntary defense if he returns to the ring in December, that should have been Lemieux, instead it is a no-hoper at 168. WBC just forfeited their turn in the mandatory rotation, which means the WBA mandatory will come next before Charlo. This means Canelo gets to fight whoever he wants for the next year or more. Hearn has already said that both Charlo and GGG need to sign with DAZN if they want a fight with Canelo, which is more bullshyt.

Golovkin could make around $5 million tops to fight Charlo. A fight with Murata in Japan can earn him around $15M. If Charlo had that option, who do you think he would fight?

No, if GGG declines than he gets the spot (that was already his to begin with.)

I thought the Ali Act made that illegal? Meaning illegal to force a fighter to sign with you to get a world title shot. Not illegal to force a fighter to sign to get a regular shot at Canelo

Theyve got bigger fish to fry. Its because Charlo fought a no hoper in Centeno that no one cares enough to make the fight. There’s literally close to five bigger fights that can be made for almost every top 5 at MW and with better (proven, rather) fighters.

GGG is a free agent, he can fight anyone, it’s Charlo that’s in complete isolation. It’s very unfortunate but it’ll all work out. He’s young enough and big enough to chase the names through to 168 if need be and Canelo is his same age. He’s going to end up having to either earn it over a period of years fighting no hopers or if he’s as much of a lion as we think and he thinks he is, he’ll force his way though some top 5s.

Not sure about GGG, but if the fans tell Canelo to fight Charlo, he’ll do it even if there’s no belts involved. If GGG is hungry for a scalp to offer as immediate tribute to the boxing gods for a Canelo fight through the WBC, he’ll fight Charlo...otherwise...he can just sign to DAZN and have a pool of most the good fighters in the mw division to choose from and still likely get Canelo down the line.

I feel bad for Charlo but when you didnt earn it by fighting the top dudes and youre on the wrong side of the steet, this is what happens when the fans dont have your back (yet).

That's what I thought too. Hearn should not be allowed to dictate who gets a title shot, especially by holding the belts hostage and forcing other fighters to sign with him. If all these other promoters/managers can make fights happen, no reason Hearn cannot.

Dznuts is not a promoter so you are tripping.

They don't have to. Become mandatory and win a purse bid.
