In the last three years we've seen the UFC lose GSP, Chuck Liddell, Brock Lesnar, Chael Sonnen, Randy Couture, Rampage Jackson, Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, Forrest Griffin, BJ Penn, and now their second last major star looks like she might be on a serious decline Ronda Rousey.

If Jose Aldo smashes McGregor and he also disappears to no-mans land, the UFC is never going to sniff over 500k buys for a very very long time
Dana White and Joe Rogan are the biggest stars the UFC ever created.

UFC is lazy. They overly promote fighters who already have a strong following (Ronda, McGregor, Lesnar) or fighters who are so dominate they can sell themselves (Jones, Penn, Silva, GSP who was also backed by Canadian fans). And of course using Mexican Americans like Velasquez and Melendez to gain interest in Mexico.

Chuck Liddell is one of the few that the UFC really got behind and made a star but he was an exciting fighter regardless of how good you thought he was.

Instead of promoting solid fighters with proven talent like Aldo, Weidman, Lawler, and Werdum, UFC is more concerned with cashing in on fighters who are overnight successes and are more like pop culture stars than top p4p fighters.

Why would you stop "overpromoting" people (I'm not even sure wtf overpromoting is, you promote fighters to the best of your ability & if people run with it they run with it)?

This Rousey thing has been huge. Her fights are huge, among the biggest in MMA if not the biggest right now. Her loss has been compared to Mike Tyson losing to Buster Douglas ffs lol. Holly Holm has been on more shows than Buster Douglas was after he beat Tyson. Promoting fighters, up to or beyond their capabilities is the f#cking job.

lawler and mark hunt are the very last of the old school fighters, when they retire the UFC will have lost its connection to the early days

Lawler is a champ, and Hunt is still a top contender.

Those guys are cut from a different cloth, similar to Hopkins, except they take (and give) way more damage. lol

To who? The 4% of fans who are UFC nerds?

For most fans Ronda losing is some epic ****. Its historic to some of these people. I've seen videos of girls crying over Ronda losing lmfao but true. Only the UFC nerds know Ronda was a mainly super competitive chick on a world class level who's entire MMA career was largely propped up via one move, her armbar, & thats what largely got her over. The UFC's job is to hype mfers.

Oscar wasn't saying Lemeiux was gonna get his ass handed to him last month. He was saying Lemeiux was going to beat GGG. It'd be stupid as a promoter to do otherwise & counterproductive to your job.

they're old school fighters, tough guys who love to fight, like jack dempsey or jake lamotta. most of the new UFC prospects are talented but more motivated by having a career, a legacy, etc but lawler and hunt just want to rough someone up and make a good living at it

ronda is good but her record would have looked a lot different if she hadn't won all those fights by armbar and stood and traded with most of those girls

Well yea. If Mike Tyson hadn't developed into that peekaboo aggressive beast with Cus his record & hype woulda looked a lot different to. If Floyd fought like Manny & Manny fought like Floyd there histories woulda went down completely different too.

What about Hendo? Wouldn't Dan Henderson also be among the old school MMA fighters?

What bothers me the most with the UFC and it's fans is how they call these guys and girls the best fighters in the world, when most have nothing more then high school and college wrestling in their background. A couple years training in other disciplines and whalla you have one of the best in the world.

People seem to forget there are about 7 billion people in the world and they take a sample size of about 500 (Sample size 0.00000008 %) people and call them the best in the world.

Out of the 7 billion people in this world there are millions who would smoke every single one of the UFC fighters. They just haven't been recognized but they are in your neighborhoods, cities, bars, maybe your own neighbor, and in every part of the world.

In Rousey's case you have 26 women in the Ufc division, In Jon Jones case you have about 37 fighters.

No such thing as the best in the world at fighting or damn near anything, so stop calling these fighters that most lifelong martial artists would call novices as the best in the world.
