Exactly this, Brook was definitely snapping Spence's head back a lot more which is easier to notice than bodywork and so can create the illusion you mentioned.

Brook may have won more of the early rounds but those rounds were competitive and hard fought with Spence having less eye catching body attack moments but moments that would ultimately decide the fight.

It's funny how perspective can change things. I've watched the fight over again and thought Spence did worse than I originally thought lol. I had him up 4-2 after six but after a rewatch it was more like 3-3.
What stuck out to me the most was the concerted body work by BOTH fighters but Spence in particular worked both sides of the body. Left straights right hooks and everything in between.
In all they both looked a bit sloppy in there, but it's a ****ing fight and they both had been off for 9 months.

I di s like lacedup is my only explanation. Btw I'm not even a Brook fan, although I did predict he'd be more skillful than Spence and thus take the win. I forgot about his lack of balls.

I must admit that Spence did a lot better than I thought. When I watched it yesterday on a dodgy stream that paused every few moments, I felt Brook was comfortably in control up until the 7th round.

However, looking at it back, I actually only felt rounds 5,6 and 7 were good for him.

He fell into his shots a lot and didn't connect with many great punches in the early rounds, whereas spence was solid with the jab and went well to the body on the inside.

Brook was on top for those rounds I mentioned above, but after seeing spence come again, I felt that was the end for Brook. I also felt from there that he couldn't last.

In fact, I was surprised that he was still standing after 9th and 10th where Spence literally had a dead man in front of him. I think Brook deserves some credit for that.

The eye injury clearly had him thinking a lot and rightfully so. There's no reason to sustain permanent damage. It's a sport at the end of the day, let's not forget. People might disagree, but that's always how I've felt, and would have said the same if it was Spence.

Overall, I think Spence looked sharp. Not unbeatable, but I don't really think anyone is at WW. I think Brook looked dead after 7 rounds and should move up to 154. Spence's bodyshots of course were part of that, but even at this point I wouldn't advise Brook to take Khan at 147. It takes him 16 weeks to get down in weight, and that takes its toll on the fight too.

I rated Brook above Thurman as it was, so for me Spence is #1 right now until proven otherwise.

He really proved to be a champion yesterday night. and he's a good guy too. How could you hate him? He's a nice respectful kid, who doesn't care about fame, just about the glory, plus will clearly fight anyone.

That's something.
"The Truth" hurts....Errol looked stronger than brook from Round 1 & Thurman is better than brook. The end.

Spence himself will acknowledge he lost the first half. But that's okay - that's how he fights. Same thing was happening against Algieri, he was getting outboxed at first. It just takes him time to adjust.
Just because you say that bullshit doesn't make it true. It was 3-2 either way. The only clear rounds after round 5 were 2, 3 and 5. Brook clearly took rounds 2 and 5 and Spence round 3.

It was a strange fight. Both looked good and bad. I don't think Brook was in control after 6 like Sky were saying but he was still in the fight and hadn't been figured out by Spence yet.

I do think the weight cutting did affect Brook. He has to do huge long camps, and as Dominic Ingle said in a video post-fight, it's taken the edge off him.

Spence will have better fights than this and will be a difficult guy to dethrone. He could become a great champ, though I don't think he's the saviour of American boxing.

This is exactly correct. I watched a Brit stream and I soon realized they weren't watching the same fight that I was. Froch in particular was annoying, but his card was good since he gave all the rounds past 5 to Spence.

Sky was atrocious, Froch gave Kell 5 rounds in a row starting from round 2, the same round Spence started walking down Kell in. Spence was walking Kell down for a lot of the fight, was never in any real trouble. I still think Spence has a gear or 2 more to show of his game, he never had to really dig in deep for the win. He invested in the body REALLY well which paid dividends later on in the fight and then started opening up.

Funny how in under a year Kell went from being this undefeated welterweight monster, the mini Mike Tyson slayer to now the 2 time quitter, UK's very own Victor Ortiz. Kell should keep Queen Khan's name out his mouth because ole glass jaw has yet to quit.

I've been a critic of Brook and his pathetic 13 year career and rightly so, all he has to show for it is a clinch fest win over Porter and then subsequently holding the belt hostage for a number of years and then finally 2 broken eye sockets from the second and third live bodies he faced, truly pathetic.

No Champion will give Kell a shot at 147 and Kell won't beat anyone with a name at 154, he may as well retire to the mulatto chav haven of Ibiza, Tenerife or whatever.
